seeking Posted May 20, 2004 Share Posted May 20, 2004 one of the things i've learned over the years is that there are a whole lot of cool people on this site, who are 'writers', who are simply not good at all and probably have no hope of ever being good. and by 'not good' i actually mean barely competent. infact, most are basically terrible. which is fine, not everyone can be cal ripken jr. and it has nothing to do with being a cool person, but it is unfortunately the truth. it got to the point where i (and several folks i know) would purposely avoid finding out what some people wrote, because we didn't want the illusion ruined. Seeking, you nailed the whole "cool person doesn't necessarily mean good writer" thing. fatbastard Posted May 20, 2004 Share Posted May 20, 2004 The really sad pathetic thing is that a lot of people tend to be nicer and take certain people more seriously when they are known "good writers" which happens ALOT on this site, personally i think my own graff sucks balls, but none the less i still get people especially younger kinds on the jock. Lets say i havent done anything special for a good couple of months, i see a bunch of fellow writers around they dont really seem that interested to say hello a quick nod like im anyother schmoe, this would be COMPLETELY FINE...IF it was like that anyother day, but say another week i have done a lot of painting and really put effort in, the EXACT same group becomes a lot happier to see me they start asking for my number to paint sometime, they ask me to hit up books etc etc... its very irritating. Evn on the net when people find out who someone is, all of a sudden there replies about any subject become more positive, and they put in more effort. i think thats what it like with "crew" members all the new users think "wow, his crew he must be really good at graff if his got that title, which is a large majority of threads started by mods get a lot more replies and views. and i know a lot of channel zero heads are beyond this (however im sure i could think of exeptions) just some thoughts, my point is though..why would you be nicer to someone because of a skill or talent they possess? would you be super to someone because they are good at volleyball? or someone who can run the 100meters in 9.4 seconds? see how retarded that sounds?
