Everyone will still knnow you bought a 300 dollar bike off ebay. you aren't going to fool anyone. why would you pay more than the frame is woth to have it powdercoated. rattlecan that shit.

...went to the LBS and asked about prices for a decent powdercoat job and the man said itll cost anywhere from $200-225..i didnt know that shit was so much...im new to the whole fixed shit, this is my first bike..i just picked it up a few months ago new, for $500...so yea, for that price for the paint job, id much rather add a couple hundred more and buy a better quality frame...

cunego doesn't have a chance... lampre isn't too strong. he's lucky there's not a ttt.

csc is basically fucked, t-mobile is totally fucked... discovery is fielding the best team now.

landis has a chance; so does leipheimer; way outside chance of valverde. discovery doesn't exactly have a solid team leader yet, but i'm saying george. it's wide open... i'm looking forward to watching boonen... dude is savage.

no kidding.

sucks for vino. This is the second year hes been fucked out of the tour. few years back homeboy got hurt at the swiss tour and missed it. Not to mention hes been stuck with the T-Mobile goof crew his entire career.

you're right about george. landis seems to to have gone too much too early in the early year, but maybe its just me. Levi never really strikes me as a winner, but i could be wrong too.

Valverde got 9th in a 40 k TT at the dauphine specified for specialists. Hes improving. And the fact that that the two powerhouse teams csc and t mobile no longer have a gc man makes the race a lot more open. I think he will be in the mix.

The sprints will be the most exciting part of this race as always, but i'm going to miss vinokourov's attacks. That man is a great bike racer.

*Dont forget Iban Mayo, Simoni(who looks to now have won the Giro after finishing third behind 2 riders involved in operacion puerto), and the french wildcards to spice things up for stage wins.

and how about david millar's comeback?

I think it would be great if Chris Horner got a podium spot, but having to work for Cadel Evans makes that close to impossible. Sure would be nice though.

I find it funny that cycling's governing bodies have this method of guilty until proven innocent. Although... most cases turn out to be true. (and I'm not sure how much I believe Hamilton is guilty) And why would this list be made public on the eve of the race? Fucking sensationalism. They've had this information since May or earlier so why wait to make the list public. If they had given the names earlier the riders could have proven their innocence or been found guilty prior to the start of the Tour. But they waited till the start to drop a dime. I know it sounds a little wacko but I think it's a ploy to give Valverde the edge and possibly a win in cyclings biggest race. Le Blanc is saying how the UCI has been receiving threats from a "mafia" like group... this is all becoming one big soap opera.

If riders are found guilty... it could seriously put a huge cloud of the sport. What company would want to associate their name with a sport that is plagued with doping scandals?

This is bigger than the festina scandal in 1998, which was huge.

Jan Ullrich clearly lied to his team. There must be hard evidence he was linked to fuentes;at least thats what t-mobile is saying. The ethics code is being applied here, which states any rider under investigation is suspended.

And yeah, fuck tyler hamilton. That dude is a joker. "Guys, even though i failed a drug test and i am listen in a huge investigation, believe me. Take my word over science and the spanish judicial system".

Right.

the threats from a 'mafia' group would probably be because this is a criminal enterprise... valverde himself has evidence against him, but i'm sure the guardia civil is reluctant to do in their own tour hopeful. it really, really sucks for jan and basso and co., but really the 'guilty until proven innocent' policy only makes sense in an event like the tour... it's not as if they're on trial and facing hard time. why should they be allowed to ride if there's credible evidence that they're doping? jan and sevilla lied about their relationship with the doctor, who's been linked with other riders tied up in doping (heras, hamilton), and who had a couple hundred bags of blood, transfusion equipment, and a huge amount of anabolics and steroids. i don't really want to watch the tour to see jan win, only to see him proven a doper... or anyone else, obviously. i certainly agree the timing is awful and suspect, but i also don't know all of the details of the investigation.
