the sunday stroll.....

Recommended Posts

i wake up today, the sun is shinning (it doesnt seem as nice though) and its about 65....

my girl and myself were supposed to go to one of the state parks and spend a nice day with each other but low and behold, here extremly annoying friend decides she will once again over stay here welcome....

just a word of advice, if you stay the night at someones house, unless you can DEFINATLY tell that they want you to stay, leave before 1 o'clock or 2-3 hours after you wake up....its just proper...anyhow...

so left and decided to explore my new surroundings....found some lovely spots to paint, got quite a few pictures and mainly just walked around enjoying being by myself....

i went and found a nice spot to bench, sipped my frosty and just enjoyed the weather...

came home with some nice pictures and a smile...i have to say today was a nice day for a walk

i definatly would suggest taking a walk at least once a week...

I am jealous, now that i think about it its been years since my last walk,a walk without a particular reason,i turned into a car addict i must admit!

One of these days...

The other thing that came to mind is that i walk to fast(closest thing to running)that always seemed to destroy my walks. When alone i sweat and get tired after a little time, ending up in some cafe in order to chill. And when with others, especially my girl,i have to slow down for people to catch up with me,thing that makes me feel strange. And destroys everything.I also smoke when walk which, believe me,sucks real bad.

Walking rules. If I live in one place long enough to wear out all the interesting walks near my house, I'll use some other form of transportation to get to an unfamiliar place so I can walk in a new environment. Walking the same route gets boring. I think the brain gets a bit more active on a walk in a spot you've never been.

Fall is the best time for walks, in the northeast anyway. The best is when the temperature is maybe 3 degrees too cold for you standing still, but once you get walking briskly you warm up to the perfect temperature.

I like more nature than city on my walks, although some of the best places are where the city meets the woods - train tracks, near highways, hobo jungles, etc.

What's your longest walk? I once did 20 miles in one day, from 5th Ave near the east busway in Pittsburgh on the train tracks, north over the river, through Etna, and into Wittmer, then back, one Sunday.

I used to walk everywhere. The walk to work was a little less than ten miles one way. For the most part, I ride my bike now. I have a car, but on weekends when I'm not in a hurry to be places, I just cruise around town on my bike.

I walked 35 km once,

but I was hiking in the Canadian Rockies,

so it doesn't count as a stroll.

My Mother walks everywhere, all year round.

I'm so glad she instilled that trait in me.

Walking is so pure. Especially in the fall!

I think they've proved that walking will clear your mind.

Something about the Western Consumer Culture,

disregards walking as suspicious and almost delinquent.

Why the hell is that guy walking? Is he too

poor for a car? Can't he legally dirve?

It seems like doing anything the 'old fashion'

way is suspect. Why walk when you can drive?

Why read when you can watch.

Why think when you can be spoon fed.

I think you get my point.

i concur. cept all the people where im at are stupid/lazy/complain alot/impaitent and dont ever want to walk. so i end up walking to alot of places that are about 5 blocks away and would take 10 minutes(at about a stroll's pace) to walk to, but instead they must take a car(s) so they will get there 5 minutes earlier than i. whatever they're the ones missin out....fuckers

Once my brother attempted to walk from Texas to Alaska. He only made it as far as New Mexico (due to budgeting problems and knee trouble). On the way he was picked up by the police a number of times and "escorted" out of the county. On one such occasion, the officer made him wait at the county line until an officer from the neighboring county could pick him up and drive him through that county too. All he was doing was walking (not hitch hiking).

My brother was also once detained while walking from Austin to Denton to come visit me when I went to school there.

I have also had a number of police encounters while walking on the side of the road. One time they stopped me and said they thought I might be skipping school. Most people think I'm in my late twenties/ early thirties when they first meet me, so I doubt that's the real reason they stopped me.

true.. public transit is good...

BUT NOT THE BUS!~!

I love the Subway and enjoy the StreetCars (or trolley or whatever)

but the bus is the lowest for of Transit out there.

It's the trailer park of housing.

and yes Alkaline,

there is no good excuse to be walking.

(in the eyes of the law)

damn alkaline, that's crazy how they could do that to your brother.

i walk to work. it takes a little over a half hour and sometimes people will offer me a ride home and when i sometimes take their ride (due to time efficiency more than lazinesss)they see how far i live away and comment: Wow, you walk this far all the time? its so far!

gimme a break, its only like 4 miles

driving short distances when you could easily walk is like smoking: not only a waste of money, but bad for your health.

I think walking sucks when the cool things to look at are a "walk" apart. That's what makes downtown so cool, you can walk around with a marker and tag all kinds of cool things. Not to mention you get to see bums in action, Office hoes, and Dart light rail trains.

Those sexy women that are all dressed up for their corporate jobs set it off in this mother fucker though.
