funny that i just got done reading the communist manifesto, and was inspired by alot in there including the full on underlying tones of creative support. in terms of personal growth to enhance the state. it is good there is alot of good in communism, tho humanity is not selfless. more a fan of democratic socialism... ie switzerland, finland etc.

If graffiti artists were all commiting violent crimes instead of property crimes, then I could see why there are so damn many. BUT we're commiting property crimes. This country revolves around the idea of property and free enterprise. Graffiti goes against that. ANYbody who thinks differently is mistaken. A graffiti artist being closed minded, conservative, capitalist, or all of the above is like a communist supporting social darwinism as far as I'm concerned. Now, I guess I'm an extreme, but extremes make bigger impacts that the people stuck in the middle. Mr lonely heart- just to let you know, mr. soul-on-ice was a socialist. And what the fuck are you talking about killing old ladies? Just register for the draft or something and shut up.

groannn...like I said earlier -wouldn't it just be swell if all writers could think the same?..you talk about closed-mindedness... progressiveness? -you're spouting the same tired bullshit partylines that have been around for decades. think for yourself. and kastesystem was pretty much right on about graffiti and capitalism. I remember discussing this with suroc years back, and we agreed that writers are actually super-capitalists. think about it, we're constantly advertising ourselves, and breaking whatever laws it takes to succeed.say what you like about your personal reasons for writing or whatever, but like it or not, it's a big competition out there. As for referencing "mr.soul on ice", I did so because I know who he was -it's called sarcasm and irony dipshit. as for why was I discussing killing old (private property owning) lades..read the earlier posts and maybe you can figure it out, trotsky..

and what's with the last sentence there?? "register for the draft?" "..shut the fuck up??"

....wow. where did all that come from? are people that disagree with you that much of a threat? are you that insecure?

-well hey, there's room in graff for insecure sheep like yourself too!! climb aboard!

We're breaking laws but once again they're PROPERTY LAWS! If we were "capitalists" the laws we'd be breaking would be laws on hiring illegal immigrants and paying them 2 bucks an hour and making them do our graffiti for us!

exactly. That's all I'm saying. I'm just mad to see stupid words like "dishrag wearers" and "sand niggers" on the graffiti board. Does opposing hate make me close-minded?? Whatever, mrlonelyheart. Sorry about the draft comment, but otherwise, no further apologies.

also, if writers were super-capitalist, there wouldn't be so many crews. A crew like AWR would try to monopolize all of the good writers and buy out smaller crews. Kids wouldn't get schooled by better writers if "only the strong survived". But I see where you could think that.

writers aren't super-capitalists...there's just an undeniably part of the graf culture that is capitalist...just like part of the graf culture is undeniably anarchist.

capitalism does try to buy out smaller business, but new "soon-to-be-big businesses" are constantly springing up...sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. just like new graf crews are constantly springing up...no crew has been capable of truly locking down the U.S. and eliminating all other crews...sometimes that's what happens in capitalism.

alright...time for chill mode -let's all hold hands now. I understand why you got mad about the racism -that got me mad too. what I was objecting to was that you were equating capitalism with racism.. and the shit about how writers should all follow some particular ideology or way of thinking -as an opponent of bigotry and closed-mindedness, you should be just as offended at such stereotyping.

that doesn't make sense. There are tons of businesses out there, whether it be a small business trying to get over, or mcdonalds. graff is more capitalistic than you realize. when you paint it's most likely out of some kind of self interest -doesn't matter that money isn't involved...you're earning respect, happiness, fame, whatever. and those aren't distributed equally. i don't think we writers are as rebellious as we think...after all, america loves its outlaws.

When I say it's an attack on capitalism I mean the actual ACT OF GRAFFITI is an attack on capitalism. The bullshit competition attitude that often comes along with it isn't.

I'm not saying that every writer must be a super-conscious anti-capitalist, but I can't help but laugh at the fucks going on about how patriotic they are and the BULLSHIT "love it or leave it" attitude they have, when if they REALLY love this country and what it stands for, they should just go join the mililtary or start a fucking business or something!!! Do you honestly think that the state and the pigs LIKE graffiti?! ?! ?! That makes no sense. Saying that graffiti is an act in support of capitalism is a fucking joke unless you have some dumb super-competitive attitude, "rival crews" can still be fuckin friends. These people sound as fucking stupid as Rush Limbaugh or Newt Ginrich, it's a fucking joke!
