Get a Tourist Visa

A green card requires that you have an employer who states that he cannot find American workers to do the job you would be doing. Obviously, if you're talking about tending bar, that's not going to fly. I'm not advocating it, but a great number of people enter the U.S. on Tourist visas, and then work once they get here, paid "under the table" in cash. Also, a lot of people come here and go to work running some sort of little fly-by-night business, like buying and selling things at a flea market, or cleaning houses, day labor and so forth. I used to get jobs when I was hitchhiking across the U.S. as a "swamper" on trucks, unloading the load at the destination point, then sweeping the trailer out. I know people who own a truck who go out and dumpster-dive wooden shipping pallets every night and get about a hundred bucks a day that way, selling them to pallet rebuilding services.

There's a million ways to make a dollar. Just don't commit any felonies doing it.
