SilentBob
I quit around a couple years ago. If you're a long term smoker it's pretty dam painful. Here are some things I found helpful. (some may have already been mentioned). 1) Set a day to quit and plan ahead of time. Buy nicoteine (sp?) sups and candy and mentally prepare yourself for it. 2) As far as supplements go, I found inhalers to be the ones that worked for me. They taste like shit and it looks like your walking around with a tampon hanging out of your mouth, but if you really want to quit, they help. And being able to inhale it like a ciggerette is good. 3) If you crack and have a ciggerette, quit again straight away after it. I cracked on the first day of my quitting, then quit again immediately after and haven't smoked since. 4) Don't go drinking until you really feel like you'll be able to do it without smoking. I guess two weeks would be about right. That's all I can think of at the moment. For some reason not throwing my ciggerette's out helped. I kept them in my bedside drawer for months on end. I don't know how effective that'd be for others though.
nozaki
i deffinately cheated a couple times recently. usually when i've smoked too much green and want to level off i'll have a drag of a cigarette or bum one. it happened like twice in the past 2 weeks. i'm not really worried about it though because i am actually craving free. 1988
Ok... So now for me its been around 3 weeks... I smoked for about 11 years and its wierd because I really havent been craving them much... Usually only when i drink, so I cut back on that as well. I'll tell you this much though, I've been saving a helluva lot of money and eating a shitload of sunflower seeds to keep me pre occupied... Good work to everyone kicking the habit and sticking to it... Chuuuch!
RumPuncher
^ nice work. I figure that I've got 2 cigars left, so I'll smoke those soon and then that's it. I'd rather smoke them and get them out of my house. I haven't had a cigarette for over a week.
SteveAustin
I was down to like three cigars...but I just inherited a bunch more...so it looks like I'm not stopping with the cigars anytime soon.
!@#$%
haha i used to think i would stop smoking by the time i was 30. while that may be true of cigarettes, i clearly will continue to smoke crack until i'm dead
Guest imported_Tesseract
I'm clean since jan 8th. Not a single smoke but alot of drinking/eating. I'm in the phase where i get coughing crisis now, wake up in the morning and spit all sorts of gross shit coming from my system. I guess 2 packs a day for the last 5 years and general smoking for the last 13 or so is pretty hardcore on the system. I dont miss it much, these last few days have been harder than ever actually. I'm sure i'll stand against it until i dont feel weak towards smoking anymore. Thats the point i'm most afraid of, its stupid but once i prove to be strong enough without it is probably the time when i'll start again. I just dont like failure. TeezerPHM
the end of today will be 3 days of no cigarettes. ive been told that if you can go like 3 or 4 days with out cigarettes then you can quit. it looks like i quit folks.. this is so ridiculos, i turn 18 next week and i quit cigarettes lol
RumPuncher
^ half true. If you go 3 full days, then the nicoteen in your blood is down to zero, but you will still have mental cravings. Those are the tough ones. Just try to tunes them out and know that after 2 weeks, it's a snap.
Flavicon
^^^ this man knows 36 days... booya! still coughing up blood though :/
nozaki
i've been smoking like 2 a week now...i've tried quitting enough times that i know when i'm trying to "oersuade myself" that i still am a "non-smoker", but for real...i think i can handle smoking a cigarette now and then without ever having a craving for one or letting it become a habbit. i'll NEVER buy another pack of cigarettes for as long as i live...i can tell you that...i think i'm strong enough to not care if i cheat every once in a while...moderation. Guest imported_Tesseract
nozaki, i hear that...i wish i was one of those smokers that can actually smoke few instead of hundreds while drinking like a maniac at the same time....Having said all that, Its been a month since i sent cold turkey and i love it. Drinking way more, having way more energy, endless boners and i'm getting fat...who's with me!? fuck yeah!?

FunTimePartyTeam
So I think Im going to start hagning out in this thread. Too many cigs over the weekend, and since I only really smoke when I drink, I got really grossed out when I woke up. SOOOO, I quit yesterday, lets see how well I can do. My pals at work say there's no way I wont be smoking when I go to China in a little over a week. We'll see.
