What's your connection speed? [speed test links inside]

Test your speed.

How to:

Step 1

Decide which server to use, click that link. The new page should show a JAVA applet. If one server is busy, try another.

Step 2

NOTE: if you haven't already done so, you will be prompted to install the java.sun.com plugin before using the speed tests. Most computers will already have this installed, though, so don't worry.

Step 3

The test may take up to 30 seconds. Don't use your connection during that period. After it is complete, the page will change to show the results.

Step 4

Post on here, motherfuckers.

Pick a server:

USA:

http://den.speakeasy.net - Denver, CO

http://dfw.speakeasy.net - Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

http://nyc.speakeasy.net - New York, NY

Canada:

http://www.speedtest.newtel.com/ - St. Johns

Australia:

http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpiq/linespeed/default.asp - Queensland

UK:

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp - London

My results:

My download speed : 2849 kbps.

My upload speed : 370 kbps.

Ok, I'm fixing to switch from COMCAST because the service (cable) cuts out every now and again for a couple hours.... not to mention after 3 months of getting the reduced rate in the beginning, you get bumped up to about $50 payments a month.... and service termination charges etc.... apply. So, I'm gonna sacrifice some speed for some extra cash by getting DSL.... now the question is which.

I'm considering CharterCommunications because broadband reports says they're good.

Your download speed : 1840109 bps, or 1840 kbps.

A 224.6 KB/sec transfer rate.

Your upload speed : 364298 bps, or 364 kbps.

Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Your download speed : 30167 bps, or 30 kbps.

A 3.6 KB/sec transfer rate.

Your upload speed : 24509 bps, or 24 kbps.

Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test

30 over 24. omg.
