Guest im not witty
now that we all got it all out of our system, im restarting the thread for its original purpose.. which is of course to be a small unnoticed and barely replied to thread about a book and a band. i just finished reading the book bear v. shark last night and it is just as amazing, and as twice as funny as the thread we had arguing about it. and the CD by the band bear vs shark has been hibernating in my cd player for about two weeks straight. its amazing as well. if you like your scream/sing along ala' Hot water Music as well as catchy slowjams and a drummer that cant possibly be from this planet, then they are the band for you. plus they are named after one of the best books ive read in months. holler. Guest
did anyone else watch the Simpsons on Sunday? Now we all know the outcome of bear vs. elephant (the elephant was winning but the bear found a weapon and turned the tide)
Guest TEARZ
just so you know my brother is on a red sox message board. the bear v. shark topic was being discussed there too- it had over 70 pages of responses. anyway, curt schilling chimed in, and he said that the bear would win definitively. i'll see if i can dig up his exact response because it's pretty funny. curt schilling has spoken. Guest im not witty
^thats fuckin hilarious. theres this part in the book, where the author chimes in, (the book is very aware of itself being a book, even though its prose is heavily influenced by television) but anyway the author comes in and puts these sampling of letters he recieved from scientists at universities across the country. he sent them the bear v. shark question and he puts their replies from real life into the not so real life world of the book. the point is, they almost all agreed that a shark would fuck a bear up. Guest TEARZ
curt schilling's response what do dumb ol scientists know anywayz? i'd much rather hear what a pro athlete has to say, hehe... originally posted by CurtSchilling38: Ok, one last thing, and it's a no brainer Bear beats the dogshit outta shark anyday. Sharks are stupid, they eat, they swim, they eat, they swim, the don't stinking sleep and they reproduce at an almost asexual rate. Bears are cunning, bad ass looking, and they are smart enough to take what I would consider a legitimate nap. If I could sleep from game 7 of the world series to opening day I would, wouldn't you? Whatever tactic a shark took, bear standing on rock or not, the bear would figure it out, and kick his ass. Bear, in a landslide.
26SidedCube
I finally got around to checking these guys out... Pretty fucking good music... but what's up with their sounding almost verbatim to ATDI at times? Campfire is basically the last song on In Casino/Out with like a Manuscript/RATM break. None the less... decent. I have a hard time being convinced by bands trying to pull this sound off... but... shit, they do it nice. Lots of switch-ups. seeking
all ive got to say, is wait till you see them live. incredible. i hated them, then i saw them live, and half way through the first song, i was sold. the singer, who dances like a mix between iggy pop and mick jagger, stopped singing in the middle of a song, leaned down to two younger kids in the front row, pulled their heads next to his, and thanked them for coming out, and for being into the music. i think i told this story once before on here. it was honestly one of the most sincere things i've ever seen in music. they could put out a justin timberlake remix album tomorrow, and id still have all the respect in the world for them. great band, super cool guys.
