seeking Posted December 1, 2003 Share Posted December 1, 2003 in all due time this country will fucking self destruct. you will not change it, and i will not change it. it can not be saved. hasen't history taught anyone anything? power is impermenant, rule is temporary and failure is guarenteed. music is not the last valid artform in existence, its just the most mallable. so easily kneeded and formed into anything we want it to be. it answers no questions and solves no problems, only gives reassurance to what you want to hear.... but thats what you ultimately want, isnt it? to listen to your favorite bands giving validation to the ideas they planted in your head. the underground is exactly as the name implies, its the stagnant breeding ground from which good things either arise, or lay in and rot. it is no more noble than anything else in this world. if your favorite bands were offered the chance to play warped tour, they would in a second. if afi called and asked them to open for them when they came through town, they would. principles keep people immobalized, stuck in a static mindset, completely contrary to everything else in the world. things change, life evolves but at the end of the day there will always be rulers and there will always be subjects. there is not a single facet of life that is not best lived in the balance between two opposing sides. once you go so far left, you find the only person within eyeshot is your counterpart on the right. meanwhile im standing in the middle accepting the good and bad in everything, making deals with the devil in order to walk the path of lesser evils. when you finally realize how foolish your idealism was, remember that i tried to help.
