I had seen it 3 times in the theaters before I saw it on an IMAX, and it felt like a whole other movie. And Alien is fucking crucially necessary watching. Guest Posted November 4, 2003 Share Posted November 4, 2003 the report.... Some IMAX screens are super curved. Those are more for planetarium style shows and 'nature immersion' flicks. The one I watched was mostly flat but with a bit of a curve just to avoid distortions. The 'planet' shot at the very beginning of Alien just seemed so damn HUGE! I mean I was dead center at the perfect height and I still needed to scan the screen. That's the beauty of a really big screen... full immersion.
