Wow. Fucking wow.

On a whim I screened this film last night and I am soooo glad I did. Andy Goldsworthy is a genius.

This film is chock-full of inspirational sculptures and artowrk made by Goldsworthy from the surrounding environment.

He uses every kind of medium from ice, drift wood, shale, clay, flowers, and even sheep wool.

See this if it's in your town. If not, it will be on DVD and VHS sometime in 2004.

Seriously, this is an amazing film.

Rivers And Tides

In theaters

"Rivers and Tides: Working With Time is an extraordinary journey into the world and mind of Scottish sculptor Andy Goldsworthy.

A land-artist who uses materials from nature to make site-specific works, Goldsworthy allows the elements to have the last say

in his beautiful creations, as his ingenious patterns of wood, leaves, stone and ice move and erode over time. German filmmaker

Thomas Riedelsheimer followed the artist for over a year in several outdoor locations, intimately documenting his improvisational

process and capturing the serene spectacle of his works and their delicate changes.

Although Goldsworthy's private and often ephemeral pieces have been documented extensively in still photographs,

this remarkable movie uses the artist's own voice to guide us through his process and help us

"…see something you never saw before, that was always there but you were blind to it." Winner of the San Francisco

Film Critics Circle, Rivers and Tides is a sensual and poetic masterpiece."

Yeah nice news...I actually had to do a small project like two years ago kinda based on this guy, we just went out to "nature" and hat to make a sculpture/piece...pretty interesting once you get out there and just work on what you have. It was pretty cool the only documentation was photos, since we made them and just left them there for people to notice if they did, and let the elements have at 'em.
