AlQuds
Do you think that Newspapers and AMgazines are a dying source of media? do any of you read the paper daily? or do any of any of you have a ny magazine subscriptions to magazines or papers? I myself think that nespapers are not necessarily dying out, by they are much weaker sources of mass communication than TV is, same goes for magazines. For myself though, the internet replaces TV. then again, newspapers provide more coverage than TV can handle, and is in fact much easier on the eyes than the internet. KaBar2
I read the paper daily But more for the editorial pages and features than the news. I usually catch news either on TV (sucks) or online. In fact, I hear a lot of news a few days before it hits the paper, online. Because most of us 12 oz.-ers spend a lot of time online, we tend to forget that not everybody else does. I leave newspapers in my jungles. Tramps use them for just about everything--starting campfires, shitpaper, kitchen food prep surfaces, etc. Clean newspaper= very valuable to tramps. Gunm
i usually just get my news from yahoo! when i go to check my email. 5 headlines a day...that's about all i can stomach.
Ski Mask
news websites are one of the few things I can view at my desk during work without getting shit for so i tend to use that as my main source of news. I catch the TV news locally if theres somthing I'd like to see video of, but usually the web keeps me on top of things. But about once a month or so I NEED to go out and by a copy of the NYTimes. I'd get a local paper to get my fix, but I refuse to give either of them my money (I can't support one to spite the other cause they are both owned BY THE SAME FUCKING PEOPLE!). And I read the 3 decent weekly free papers of course. And I'm a fucking magazine junky.....but those are rarely about current events. Far from dead. Guest BROWNer
magazines rule. especially when you also buy a cd to go with it and you have the afternoon to lounge and read/listen. i don't think the medium/format is going down at all. maybe from an oversaturated market, but not from medium. newpapers..eh. i kind of can't stand how awkward they are, i just wanna open the shit up and read not fumble with it for 5 minutes, and then have to fumble more after the first couple of paragraphs to get to the rest of it. and most newspaper news stories are written so that you get the bulk of the info at the top of the story and the rest is just trailing off really. good if you only care about headlines and leads, bad if you want something substantial. the extra suck to that is that, for me anyways, i end up reading the articles all the way through anyhow. plus you have to pay for them, even though they are cheap, everyday adds up. on the flip they are a tasty resource/archive. tv......turn that sedative shit off. SteveAustin
I've been hearing this question for like the last 10 years. Physical media hasn't slowed down in 10 years and its not going to. yea, everybody loves the internet and the ease of use...but people also like to have something physical....tangible in their hands. printed media is here to stay. Evil Dee
Regardless, a lot of the stories you see on the evening news are found by someone in the news room flicking through a newspaper and deciding that'd be a good story to follow. Guest
There's nothing like picking up a big weekend paper and brewing a pot of coffee (or tea) and going 'end to end'. TV news is a joke. You only get headlines and rarely is there any meat to the story. News shows like 60 minutes go a little deeper.. but not much. Certainly for quality editorials and real substance to the news stories... you cant beat the paper.

S@T@N
I hope newspapers are dying. Fucking worthless. I had to "assemble" the Sunday papers when I worked at CVS. It's sick to think of how many trees go into those things, even though some (a tiny portion) are made from recycled papers. I'm not some tree hugging moron, but shit, that's a lot of trees. Watch a goddamn TV.
