alfred mate, your on some deep level. Props for clocking this shit early:king:

anyway a little bit of knowledge for you geezers:

If you ever hear the pre-recorded message "would inspector sands please make himself known to the station staff" it means a staff member in the station has clocked something wrong, like a fire risk or illegal activity, and wants to notify the other staff members without the public knowing. The very first time I ever painted a tube I'd been waiting in a station for an hour and a half to get running, when I hear that message. 'Twas time to get my white arse out of there.

channel 4 did a show a while ago about secret shit in britain, it had real interesting stuff about the tube system but this is all I can remember.

oh yeah alfred get yourself on msn messenger I want to talk to you.

Well now, I just checked up the various meanings of oyster and the one which seemed most appropriate in this context was "a very uncommunicative person". Clearly, therefore, the oyster card has been named after the L.U. people who disappear from the platforms at times of service disruption.....? :)

... you dont have to spend a few minutes waiting in ques so that your not a second late to your precious fuking job

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That seems like a good idea to me, unless;

a) you like standing in queues,

B) you don't have a job.

However, when you buy it you have to give your name and address....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You already have to give your name and address when you by a monthly travelcard. So no change there then. BTW this helps if you lose your card and some kind member of the public hands it in. It means they can post it to you. Of course you could always lie.

If your still thinking so what then I'll tell you what...What if the police suspect you of doing something and they just need to prove that you were in the area at the time the crime happened? Now they can.And the oyster card will be taken as hard evidence cause computers dont make mistakes do they? But what if..........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm pretty sure that 99% of people aren't in the least bit concerned that they may be wrongly accused of a crime while going on the tube. Only criminals need to worry. But what if....?

and no computers don't make 'mistakes'.

I steal your card and leave it at the scene of a crime?? You may say well the'll look at the cameras and see that it's not me...yeah?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If my card were stolen i'd report it. Surely that would be an alibi.

Oh yeah and for anyone that thinks im talking shit there already exists software for cctv that is being tested NOW on the underground which picks up on suspicious body language....This means that looking at too many trains as they go by, looking around you too much, nervousness in general are all things that the system highlights and brings you to the attention of the operator.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your point is what exactly?

This software is used to, hopefully, detect jumpers. This could actually save lives. Now, I don't want people to stop commiting suicide, if that's what they want, just don't make me late for dinner.

Is pulling out a big black marker and writing on the walls considered 'suspicious body language'?

his point is as soon as you start hanging around looking at trains theyll be on you??

^^^ Exactly...

It is like with the flying pigs that go out looking for the kids throwing rocks at train windows.

Do you think that once they have spent x amount of money installing this software onto the LU camera network (or £20k or however much it costs to get a chopper airborne) that they are going to say

"Oh, it's ok he's not going to jump [or throw rocks at a train], he is just doing graffiti. It's not our job to deal with that..."

NO! Most people in authority seem to be the "hero" type.

I don't believe that they put these devices in place to stop us. I think that they really are there to stop jumpers. BUT, once they are in place they are bound to use them against writers - it doesn't matter why they were installed in the first place.

BEWARE

Is taking a photo of a panel on a train enough evidence for them to arrest you?

probably not enough to bring a charge, but i bet theyd arrset you anyway just for the sake of inconviniencing you...

Actually, yes. I know of at least 2 cases where people have been arrested and subsequently charged for waiting at a station to get running flicks of the pannel they had done that morning.

As they had paint on their hands and clothes, etc... you get the picture.

Be very careful. Obviously, trying to catch runners in the daytime that aren't your own work is not necessarily a (long-term) problem, but don't be silly about things.

I was told another story about a gentleman who was hassled by plain clothes BTP for trying to get rushour running shots at London Bridge. He was obviously not the perpetrator of the crime, but he could have been arrested anyway.

You also hear horror stories such as that of the guy who left his bag on the train and, upon going to pick it up from the Lost Property Office, found that BTP were waiting for him, as his bag had been opened and, amongst other graffiti related paraphenalia, a marker pen had been found inside.

They proceeded to raid his house - I assume on "suspicion of intent" to cause crim dam.

You may also have heard stories of people being picked up on the streets with paint and bolties in their bags and being charged for "suspicion of intent" to cause crim dam / burglary.

It is rare that anything comes of these arrests or charges. But there are some idiots out there who will grass themselves up at the slightest hint of trouble (as well as some very clever people who will do the same thing).

DONT ADMIT ANYTHING. I can't repeat this often enough. Even if they are showing you a video of you criminally damaging a transit vehicle DO NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING.

The CPS has proved to me that it is poorly managed and has next to no organisational structure. Deny until the last minute. Fight to the end and you are likely to come up on top.

But most importantly, try not to get caught in the first place

Taking flicks gives them probable cause to search you (and possibly arrest you)

If you have a pen on you, that gives them cause to arrest you.

The result of the subsequent interview may give them cause to search your home address.

The consequences of the searching of your home address may well be

"OH SHIT IM FUCKED"

^^^Worst case senario...

Not true in my experience. But if you are caught red handed then very likely, I'd imagine.

Best thing to do is KEEP THE WHOLE HOUSE CLEAN.

There have been instances when people had their whole house (arguably illegally) searched, not just their room.

As far as I'm aware they are allowed to search any area which might be connected to the crime in some way, so best to keep the whole place clean.

Have a good cleanup at least once a month, pretending that you are about to get raided the next day.

I've done this and it is AMAZING how much evidence you find that could have been used against you. I actually cleaned up solidly over a week and I kept on finding stuff that I had missed the previous day, for the entire week.

Just keep it clean. Destroy outlines, keep flicks elsewhere (scan them into your computer if you need to look at them on a daily basis for the purposes of self gratification).

I like to make sure that I have nothing connecting me to graffiti at all in my house, that way I can just plead ignorance. In practise you are going to have magazines and the like, however. But even this can be minimised.

Keep your computer clean (especially chat logs).

Just common sense. Use your brain - get into the mind of the policeman who may well be trying to do you at some point in the future. Chances are you are going to be more intelligent than him anyway, so you will cover every base he would AND MORE.

But better safe than sorry.

Also remember that you would (hopefully) only be being investigated for criminal damage. They are unlikely to get the murder squad in to do a meticulous top to bottom search of your house including specialised forensic analysis of every piece of potential evidence collected (unless your name is Tox)

Props to you.

Being raided is standard practice when you get done in Australia. Duh.
