Im not exactly sure what you mean by universal? Do you mean provided to everyone through the government or do you mean one company for all people to use. I think government health care is something that should be provided to everyone. It would make sense to me. You wouldn't have people dying in waiting rooms because they are not rich enough to save. It would kind of level everyone out. But i dont think that will be happening anytime soon.

If you are talking about one big insurance company..That sounds like a bad idea. They could charge retarded rates for people to gain insurance and we would be in the same problem that we are in right now. Companies are not allowed to corner a market here. No monopolies.

It doesnt really matter any way cuz insurance companies try to weasle their way out of paying money to victims of any kind. Personally i just got back on insurance after going without for 4 years. Now i feel perfectly fine about falling from ladders and roofs onto sidewalks again.

What the hell am i talkin about?

whats the point? it's just another misinformed and assinine argument amongst a bunch of (mostly wannabe) graffiti writers about things they have no true ability to understand.

you want me to sum up the whole argument, so we can avoid it all?

for: we'd all have access to care.

against: yeah, but the care is sub par.

for: thats not necessarily true, but even sub par is better than no-par.

against: you have to wait a month to see a dr.

for: well i cant see one at all now.

against: look at VA benefits, thats proof it wouldnt work.

for: no, thats proof that we're concerned with money, not health.

against: but america is the freeest country in the world, we rock.

against: oh yeah? then why are their 33 countries with lower infant mortality rates, the lowest of which is nearly half ours?

against: starbucks sucks!

there, story over.

i started a thread on this many moons ago that i'm pretty sure got swallowed up or got 2 replies, probably one from browner and one sarcastic reply.

i'm for it. my man kucinich is trying to do it.

all in all, it would be the most socialist move that our country could realistically make. that is if you think it's even remotely realistic. which it is when you compare it to more radical ideas...

my doctor is free and yours isnt.

i only have to wait 20 minutes in the waiting room.

our medical degrees are just as good as yours.

we scored number 5 in the world for high school (secondary school) marks (grades), you scored 16 i think. we only have half the funding and class sizes comparable to bolivia.

i dont think there is one canadian whos had to wait a month to see a doctor. maybe to get heart (fuck, i completely forgot how to spell) surgery.

those are terrible and very poorly backed up facts. any one wanna give me a hand?

I live in the same province you dodid...

and thats exactly how it is... so the taxes are a bit higher but there isn't a huge poverty rate in Canada either so something seems to be working.
