Model 500 Zamboni® Ice Resurfacer

Engine:

Volkswagen 1.8 litre. Four cylinder overhead valve, liquid cooled, hydraulic lifters. 63 HP @ 3000RPM NET. Powerful and efficient. Load sensing governor enables true “hands- free” operation by driver.

Transmission:

Continuously variable Hydrostatic pump and motor are axial-piston type. Provides superior on-ice power with maximum drawbar pull even at low speeds. Conveyor augers operate at full speed, even when slowing the vehicle for corners.

Drivetrain:

Four wheel drive. Rugged Spicer axles with high capacities:

Front 4300 lbs (1950 kg)

Rear 6400 lbs (2903 kg) Full Floating

Hydraulics:

Powerful double-pump has separate pump sections for the vertical and horizontal augers, providing the best conveyor performance in the industry. Direct shaft mount for trouble-free service. High quality 10 and 20 micron filters are easy to access.

Construction:

Strong 2" x 5" all-welded structural steel tubing Zamboni® chassis. High quality primer used throughout. Rust-free polyethylene ice making water tank with easy access cover is standard.

Human Engineering:

Simple to drive. Easy to operate. Safety feature brings vehicle to a complete stop if operator’s foot leaves the pedal. Meets or exceeds A.N.S.I. safety labelling requirements.

Facility Engineering:

Zamboni has the tightest turning radius in the industry. Snow tank design offers a lower height dumping flexibility. Cleaner arena environment and fuel savings result from the smaller, more efficient engine.

A blade shaves

the surface of the ice

After a horizontal screw gathers the shavings, a vertical screw propels them into the snow tank

Water is fed from a wash-water

tank to a squeegee-like

"conditioner" , which smooths

the ice. Dirty water is vacuumed,

filtered, and returned to the tank.

Clean hot water is spread on the ice by a towel behind the conditioner.
