renting cars

turning to the vast knoledge pool of the collective 12oz mindset....

So a friend is coming into town and I need to rent a car.

Here's the issue... most places have an age requirement of

25 years but I'm a few months shy of that. Will places still rent to me?

I'm going to call up some of the local dealers tonight and figure

out the terms, or should I maybe get dressed in my finest work

attire and just go cold-call the shops. I've never rented a car on

my name before and I'd like to hear any stories tips etc.

or if anyone in my area wants to just let me borrow their ride....

(convertible prefered) Drop me a line.

I figured it would just work out to an increased insurance premium.

no biggie.

but I'm hoping someone in here knows a few tricks to get the dealer

to give me a break. last time I was involved with the renting of a car,

it was with a lingerie model so all the dealers were bending over backwards to help us out.

I however... am no lingerie model.

My car got totalled back before I was 25. The insurance company gave me a rental allowance for a car, but nobody would rent me a car. My parents ended up letting me borrow their car, while they got to drive my bling bling rental. I'm still bitter about that. 25 seems a little excessive age wise as far as renting a car goes. At least you can rent one now...those fuckers wouldn't budge when I needed one.

so it's more money eh guys ?

I hear you SA on how they can screw over people based

on age even when it's out of context. Luckily my record up

here is clean. No parking tickets, no speeding... nothing.

I've got a few outstandings in texas and new mexico... but forget that.

I know one of the local dealers rents this...

I hear the Sebrings are actually nice.

too bad you can't rent one of these:

or perhaps one of these:

and yeah...my record is clean as a whistle. $250 a pop to get out of my normal (15 over) tickets. I've been pulled over a lot.

So here's the poop scoop.

I'm renting a midsized car (Sebring, Taurus or Malibu) and

because I'm 24 and one year too young, they will charge me

and extra $10 per day + a $500 deductable on my credit card.

and they said they'd rent to anyone with a full drivers licence

and a credit card in their name. Wild... I would have been renting

cars at 17 if I knew it was that easy!

oh wait... no cd player, no deal!

^ not the ones you want to talk to you.

If the first impression they get of you is an expensive lie,

then just imagine how you'll have to act to keep them around.

It's not worth it.

I'm getting 3 days in a decent car for 170.

And that's like a twenty dollar bill in the states right guys?

thanks K.

I've heard that the 25 limit is a bit of an urban myth

set up by worried parents and travel agents.

The guy told me they'll rent to anyone with the paperwork

as long as they have the cash. I'm sure there's enough places

that will rent to you without the paperwork if the price is right.

these are the girls you bend over your rented porsche and fuck in the ass, then say ciao and laugh like a schoolgirl all the way back to the dealership.
