Its a nasty trojan that has been infecting systems since monday. Its called MSBLAST. It's an exploit on Microsoft Windows XP. In the actual code for the worm there are two messages. "Bill Gates why do you let this happen?" and "STOP MAKING MONEY AND FIX YOUR SOFTWARE!" Removal/Prevention Guide: Download Adaware, Scan for spyware, remove the regkey data miner Alexa and possible Orion. Search your computer for MSBLAST.exe erase everything that comes up. Go to: http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/8...980-x86-ENU.exe Install the security patch. Do not restart your computer at anytime during this. mapo returns Posted August 13, 2003 Share Posted August 13, 2003 yes ive been getting that shit. my mom (who knows nothing about computers) told me she got some type of prompt telling her she needed to update and she did it, then it needed her to restart, so she did..and ever since then it started happening. i have no idea what shes talking about. can they really put a virus inside of an mpg, avi, mp3 file? i always assumed that it wasnt possible. i consider myself pretty good with the computer, especially with using the internet, and i was stumped at this rpc thing. i had no idea it was a popular thing going around. how was it being spread? thanks for the thread, taper. taper Posted August 13, 2003 Author Share Posted August 13, 2003 the rpc is the Remote Procedure Call. what happens is this trojan.(which is diffrent than a virus.) gets in through a hole that all windows xp has. im assumming that all the infected have windows xp. well its really not that hard to do or to get rid of really. just go to the link that i provided at the top. and follow the instructions. its a nasty pain in the ass that fuckin lil' timer counting down to restart evry 10 mins. i believe i have mine fiexed my patching it through microsofts website. my friend who is like some kind of computer hacker, (and hes actually good at it ) told me the low down on this thing but being not so sharp with the computer other than using it for porn and a refrence tool and to buy shit im not too up on it anymore. so alot of the shit he told me was kinda going in one ear and out the other. so i was like dammit chris how do i fix it and he told me to go to www.microsoft.com/security/ and patch it and youll be fine. i got my lil bugger through aim. its just a ip address and it says in the msg box of the person your talking to go here or check this out. DO NOT CLICK THAT IP ADDRESS. its a trojan. and the person your taking to has no idea so just dont click it. thats how i got mine i wasnt paying attention. alot of people got it and i know it sucks so i just wanted to help my fellow 12ox members out! some one with more computer knowledge explain this a little better if you dont mind Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
