-----------------Piano

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good piano music... Just solo piano. None of that orchestra accompaniment or choir shit (not that I hate it). Any help?

Some examples:

Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

Beethoven - Symphony No.5 1st Movement

? - Raindrops (Prelude) <------ really good

? - Arabesque

? - Berceuse

? - To Spring

? - Mazurka

? - Consolation E Major

? - Waltz No. 2

I've played classical piano for 14 years now. I'm a sucker for Gershwin above all. I actually just ordered some sheet music from my favorite contemporary composer Yann Tiersen (music for Amelie, among others) so I'll let you know how it reads.

The reason for my renewed interest in Piano is becuase there is now a grand piano sitting on the lobby to my theater.

I was just thinking...wasn't most of Tiersen's music in Amelie mostly played on a harmonium?

I absolutely love some of the solo pianist and solo violin works. Amazing range of emotion that can be pulled from the instruments.

Aight,

I allways love to play Claud Debussi stuff haha:lol:

Its really nice and all. Really creative.

Bach has really nice stuff.

It isnt easy but its fun to play so I guess its good. The ryhtem is sometimes tricky but you can learn a lot from it.

And if you like jazz piano THE ONE is Thelonius Monk.

That guy is a genious!

Duke Elington has basic jazz stuff for piano which are really good if you begin to play jazz like me:cool:

lol Its hard for me to explain in english so I sorry if it sounds fucked up.

PEACE

good piano solo there, in the begining.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but worth the listen.

Yo if you're into some good jazz piano there are way more pianists than Scott Joplin, Duke and Brad. Not to put those guys down. Check out some Oscar Peterson, George Shearing solo album is the shit, Bud Powell, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Bill Evans(necessary) and Kenny Barron just to name a few. I'm like a jazzhead so. Most of these guys have solo albums or piano duos with one another or something. If you put this shit on def. fall in love. If you like cool as chords and really chill like shit then you def. like Bill. If you like some in melodic playing, then you like George Shearing and some Oscar.

if you haven't seen the Pianist (but you probably have there rage) you should listen to Wladyslaw Szpilman, the pole composer who survived the Warsaw ghetto and ww2 nazi's.

Szpilman played a lot of Frederic Chopin's music... so... just throwing some stuff out there...

Another good piano film is 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould (I think that’s what it’s called). Check it out.
