Guest BROWNer
has anyone seen the movie kandahar? i watched it tonight, it's fucking awesome. by that i don't mean to relish in the disturbing reality of afghanistan, by that i mean, for me, it conveys information in an incredible way that kicks your ass on most or all major fronts of shit kickingness and triggers that raw perception of life and our planet and all the people humming away everywhere and how insanely fathomless it all is. the portrayal of afghanistans prosthetics culture is insane, i literally smashed my face off the screen when i saw this. i used to work with an old(mid 50's)afghan named noor(new-ore)a long time ago. he made up alot of words all the time, dorking off with the english language, just pure hilarious gibberish that he knew was pure hilarious gibberish... somtimes i worked 10hour days with him and at the start of our workday in his funky accent he would say, 'let's talk over here my friend and sit and fart'. hahaha. he was fucking awesome, he had that air about him that exuded that he knew how incredibly lucky he was to have left afghanistan and made a life for himself in canada. anyhow, i recommend it. plus it has a sick soundtrack. -Rage-
^^^ I just saw that trailer... Looks okay. BROWNer, never saw all of Kandahar. I only poked my head in it while I ran the shows. It was beautifully shot though. Nowhere in Africa is another one you might like.

Guest WebsterUno
*believe* some older philipino man I used to work with would say 'parted' instead of 'farted'. So, I would be packing computers into a box, and Id hear something rip... he would look up, chuckle, and say, "Uh oh..I just parted!" he always called me amigo. :mexican:

Guest
small world brownski.... So the woman who inspired the movie Kandahar actually went back with a documentary crew and shot 'Return To Kandahar' with a local film crew. How do I know this? Well I did some online editing for the film. It was a bit of a nightmare logistically just because their camera was slowly breaking down durring filming and there's no place to get repairs out there, but the content of the story is truly amazing. Plus the woman was incredibly sweet and a total knock-out. but yeah... good flicks.

It was good and had me feeling empty and lost inside. *ps I'll check out the movie Kandahar if I can find it. I just saw Julien Donkey-Boy by Harmony Korine. Also a lonely empty pants feeling movie. Awesome concept/camera work and some of the best acting I've ever seen (coming from Julien alias Ewen Bremner alias the guy who played 'spud' in Trainspotting even though I never watched that movie). Werner Herzog was awesome too and I envy Korine for making such brilliant films. Art.
