Weapon X
http://www.star.net/People/~dharter/images/retardo.jpg'> Gretzky! isn't there an environmentalist group that isn't down with this whole bid? I don't know anything about it, but I did hear something.

effyoo
The first thing I heard when I woke up this morning was the announcement that Van had won the bid. CBC Radio had coverage for two hours. I fall asleep listening to Brave New Waves and wake up to live coverage from wherever they announced it. A good station I tell ya. OK, back to the topic at hand. Vancouver seems like a good choice, I mean, there's Whistler, which will host the skiing and snowboarding events, and they got the ocean, which will be good for the kayaking, they got Hastings and Main (the Junkie Olympics just happen to be at the same time, don'tchaknow?). They also have the weed, which will be good for the snowboarders. Overall, it looks to be a good time. Wow, did I just go off on a tangent or what? Kayaking? RumPuncher
I was just about to say that.... Kayaking? obviously the snowboarders aren't the only ones down on Hastings. and the real beauty.... It means my city wont be able to have them for another 15 years!
effyoo
Yeah, thats what they were saying on the radio, Kilo. They said your city had a bid ready for the 2012 summer games ready just in case Vancouver's bid was rejected and now they are debating whether to go through with it because there is almost a 100% chance that they won't get past the first round of voting. RumPuncher
thank god! They had a decent dib for the 2008 but it's going to Fetaland instead. And I thank God! Sure the city could use a little tourist influx, but we wern't ready for something like that at all. The highways are fk'd, the airport has issues, the waterfront is a mess. The city even rounded up homeless people while to IOC was in town on tour. We need bread not a circus. That and I just know tons of people who would get evicted from their homes so greedy landlords could rent to tourists and athletes' families for hotel rates. boo! anyways.... congrats!
