misteraven 1,341 Posted June 30, 2003 I'm going to ask a series of questions that will hopefully give me some ideas about how you guys connect. We're considering upgrading some of our hardware, so your input might help us streamline the process a bit. Anyhow, please take a moment and give a few quick replies to the following questions... 1. Do you connect via BROADBAND (DSL, Cable, T1) or by MODEM (56k or less) 2. Where do you connect from most? Home, Work, School? 3. Do you generally use webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) or POP3 email (Regular type emails - Outlook, Entourage, etc), or both?

Vanity 6 Posted June 30, 2003 56k at home... ethernet doowhackey at work, but i never respond at work (especially now that i dont have a job) connect the most at home.. but that could just be because it takes longer on dialup pop3 for official stuff, web for the rest. Vanity 6 Posted June 30, 2003 i think most of these people tha tpost 15 times a day must be on cable though, so i think this survey might end up skewed toward the higher end.

RumPuncher 34 Posted June 30, 2003 yeah... sometime the pages just snap up but other times it will choke on smilies. 1.) My connection is faster then my 10 base-t. 2.) Work obviously 3) pop3 for work, some crappy "free" email for personal. I had a 470ms response time to the front page of 12oz from the node before that. Maybe something is up? I mean I hit telia.net - miami in like 80ms. anyways.... hope the testing goes well.
