i dont see why you dont think there wont be another war. well, it will still be technically part of the 'war on terrorism,' but bush has all the incentive in the world to keep one going and keep people afraid, like noam said, people will flock to power for protection. and bush is doing the exact same thing to iran that he was doing to iraq "oh, they better not have weapons of mass destruction, we need to investigate..."

on a side note, i saw this mc named memory do a song called 'lets kill georgie in his sleep tonight' which was pretty funny, and i expected the feds to come through any second.

Good words Tearz, i totally hear you on that one...actually its not even a 'left' matter anymore..it directly concerns everyone that is willing to live a decent life...i really cant go on with that cause i'm not american and i just cant take part on this...my raw and maybe foolish conclusion from the things i see, read and notice is that american people's pshycology works like a hot/cold/hot/cold shower...it seems that theres a need for war and absolute display of power for a good 4 years and then theres the need for ethical cleansing and more 'social/humanintarian' pollitics...i'm not saying everyone is driven by that...i just see it happenning.

Still, i feel that due to a gazillion of reasons the Bush team has pushed things as far as it goes...i wouldnt feel stupid by saying that we're experiencing some of the darkest times in modern history.

I think you guys are not really understanding what I'm trying to say, since I am in full agreement with you people on what you have said about conservatism... but my issue is not whether conservatism is good or bad, my issue is that regardless of its qualities, I'd like to see it get representation and "air time" around here, so that real discussion takes place. Would you rather have this place be a sort of informational community where articles are presented that provide a counter-TV viewpoint and leave it at that, or would you rather have it be a discussion forum where opposing views are expressed, and where the treatment of the subject ismore thorough (since it covers both sides)? As much as I'd like to see a world where people share more liberal views, I am aware that staleness and even dumbing-down would ocurr where it not for an opposing stance.

Tesseract, you're right about those threads, although I find them to be somewhat of an exception... the threads I'm talking about are the ones started with a news article, whereas most of those were anger-driven right from the start, especially the 9-11 threads. They were not good representations of an intelligent conservative viewpoint (the "oxymoron") which I'd say should take on a similar form: a posting of a news article, and discussion following. Mapo attempted it once, and it showed promise, yet the fact that most of us regard mapo as a moron marred the whole thing from the start. And, well, the article wasn't great... but it was an effort.

So again, I am in no way defending conservatism, only it's right to have a voice here... regardless of if they often don't show the same treatment towards liberals. Beer,

mams, it's kind of a lost cause.. i totally see your point about people blindly eating it up, but that's going to be the case anywhere... especially on a message board full of insecure teenagers looking for their place in the world (it's not surprising that most of the people involved in this thread tend to be on the older end of the 12 oz spectrum. also, the fact that this is a graff message board, i wouldnt expect a lot of people defending the goverment, since we obviously dont value the laws (not just graff, but stealing, drugs, etc.)... i actually rather enjoy mapo's presence, but the articles he posted were a ridiculously feeble attempt to defend.

would you really expect a bunch of feminists to be arguing on a porn message board?

who cooks for you all?

you'd think many more people would be up in arms over the loss of constitutional rights we're experiencing, but the administration seems to be doing a good job of taking away our rights under the guise of homeland security. chomsky's right that the administration is creating and exploiting fear in an attempt to garner support, or rather, keep control over people. it seems like its a question of whether or not the end justifies the means. say, any of the homeland security bullshit, being able to lock people up without charging them, taking away privacy, etc.; can this really be justified? i guess i just don't understand how people can disregard the fact that this administration is completely overstepping its bounds, like really screwing stuff up in terms of the rights of individuals. have they been scared so badly into accepting that this is a legitimate course of action? i wonder if theres a possibility that the division between those in power and the 'have nots' would become so great as to start a revolution? its incredibly scary to think what the bush administration is doing to the country, it really just doesn't seem to make sense for anyone except themselves.
