I think that people who are scared of people breaking in and get guns are stupid. Because shooting someone is gonna have bigger consequences than getting robbed. But i do support guns for hunting and target practice. Last weekend me and my friend sat on his back portch and shot shit with a .22 (he lives on a farm). Thats all i really want. Calling the cops can take awhile. If youre able to, at all. Besides, its perfectly legal to shoot someone in self-defense of your life. If someone breaks into your home with a weapon, you are in immediate danger and are allowed to shoot them. Anyway, I would do time standing on my head before I would let some scumbag do something to my kids. I say your best bet for home defense is a 12 gauge pump action with a full choke. I'll be loud enough for someone to call the cops (let the charge for 911 go on your neighbors phone bill) you can control the shot spread better with a choke (less mess that way). Also there isn't as much BS paper work you need with a shot-gun, and you can get ammo at places like Wal-Mart, or if you live in an area like I do, your local gas station.
