Æ°
My financial situation that's got me fucked... I leased a car. (mistake #1) The lease is for 4 years 60,000 miles. Today I just flipped 60k and I'm about 2 years into the lease. So yeah...I'm either going to buy it for way more than it's worth at the end. (the bank probably won't provide me with enough money to do this) Or I can pay 8¢ for every mile over I am. I could trade my car in now with the negative equity carrying over into the next car...I think. But those are the only ways out I can think of. I'll end up paying one way or another. All I really want is to not have a car anymore. The end result will probably be something like having a car shoved up my ass with the doors open. Anyone else ever been in a situation like this? I'm only 15,000 miles shy of having traveled all the way around Saturn in 2 years.
effyoo
If you were asking about the possible lease of a car, i'd tell you that it was a bad deal. Looks like you found out the hard way. Is there a way out? Fuck. I don't know. Re-read the fine print. You did read the fine print, didn't you?

mapo returns
didnt you realize you were on a pace that was twice as many miles as were allowed? 60,000 divided by 24 = 2,500 So you go about 2,500 miles per month. 2500 divided by 4 = 625 So you go about 625 miles a week. 625 divided by 7 = about 90 So you were going 90 miles a day when you should have only been going 45. Thats tough. I was gonna lease a car, but I decided against it when I realized I travel about 60 miles a day just to/from work.
SteveAustin
sounds like its time to park it and buy a shitbox. not many options other than that, buying or paying the 8 cent a mile penalty.
Dick Quickwood
change the odometer down 40 thousand miles, or just break the odometer and say you dont know what happened
SteveAustin
^^ ah hell, I can't believe I forgot about that option. you might check out the fuse box panel. remove the fuse for the gauges. if this works, you most likely won't have any working guages....but no more miles. Dick Quickwood
or cut the wire that goes to the odometer and splice it back togather when its time to take the car back
ubejinxed
Originally posted by krie set it on fire and claim insurance or say it got stolen and set a blaze nothing u can do ? yah i'd say this is a good option, the car is relatively new and if you have full coverage, the insurance company usually pays enough to pay it off. they don't know how many miles on it right? my car was stolen and i made money on it, my other friend "crashed" his car and made money on it. you could have someone steal it and crash it. i know that's bad but you just have to find someone to do it. works pretty well. but you didn't hear that from me. Æ°
The odometer is digital. I would assume it wouldn't be as easy as disconnecting a wire or two to get around it but who knows... It might just end up in the Mississippi river. Or as SteveAustin said, I might buy a shitbox. At the rate I'm going lately I would end up paying around $3,400 for the extra miles at the end. I should be putting this in worst decisions thread.
