light was turned off, camera was placed on floor looking up, shot was taken on bulb with a cable release that i locked down during the shot. I attempted to outline the three fan blades with a little flashlight, after i was done, i turned off the flashlight, went and flipped on the light on the fan for a second and turned it off, walked over and released the cable.

the last one was watching American Graffiti in this big park last night. i was going into it knowing it had nothing to do with graffiti, but enjoyed it anyway. ;)

i've gone to the park to read in the sun for the past few days, so i have a lot of those light through the trees shot. definitely peaceful. if you actually want as a desktop, leave some measurements.

The grain you're wanting is a property of the chemicals on film. On digital cameras, all you'll get is its shitty cousin, noise. Depending on your camera you'll either want to under or overexpose your night shots, and perhaps set the ISO really high. Most cameras have some sort of internal noise reduction though.

www.hurtyoubad.com were thinking of doing a "mini-sub-site" gallery of photos taken in places you aren't meant to be. If anyone has photos taken in train yards, abandoned buildings, tunnels or any similar sort of place please email me on

b0b@hurtyoubad.com or send a zip file of photos via the www.yousendit.com site.

If you want photo credits, let me know.

I've got a decent collection of sewering, trainyard, and campus attic / utility room pictures, but it'll take me a little while to dig them all up as I lost my backup CD with the contents of gnometoys.com on it.
