this was the first show i've ever shot, clearly didn't really know what i was doing and it probably didn't help that i wasn't atall sober. anyways i had fun and learned i need something wider than f4 and to learn how to use my flash.

^marco i like the more introspective shots than the flashier ones... not sure if that makes sense.... but when i saw that taylor swift shot, it looked to me like she wanted you to take that shot (and its great that you did, but it serves a certain purpose).

but the shot of biz (particularly the last) looks more like you found the moment that you liked for yourself and took it. Like he was scanning the crowd, evaluating his achievements and all that. Of course, what i like doesn't make the big bucks, but it does make fans and appreciators.

I'd like to see you break into shoots like this:

matter of fact, id like to see any graff-appreciating photographer get work like that.

hey man, thanks for the feedback. yep, it makes total sense what you said about introspective shots. I like to think that I take all of the shots for myself, not thinking at that moment about my assignment or the (meager) paycheck, just shooting for the love of shooting. the taylor shot and that biz shot are recent favorites of mine.

On a side note, did you see the photos from Guatemala posted on Boston The Big Picture? At first I thought it was the same place you lived/worked for all those months, but then I realized you were in Panama.

MayorMenino - My boy you met in BK got one of his shots on the front page of New York Times once.

Just felt like bragging about my crew, haha carry on.

haha, yeah i remember him telling me about it when i was showing him that tiny portfolio thing i had. it was the picture of that American Taliban guy getting shackled up right?

I was in Panama, but I was also in El Salvador which was also hit pretty bad. The bridge that was one of two ways into a town i was staying in got blown out by flash floods. The Big Picture is one of my favorite things on the internet.

This weekend was the 2nd year of the annual Free Press Summer Fest here in H-Town. I was part of the team that covered the event for the Houston Press. I'm still trying to recover, but it was so worth it!
