i always thought using holgas was supposed to be a crapshoot, as they are easily prone to problems. light leaks, film slipping on the reels, etc. They're like 20 bones right? Poor mans medium format camera used for the "Holga aesthetic".

random things about holgas from wikipedia:

-The Holga is a very inexpensive, medium format box camera appreciated for its low-fidelity aesthetic.

-The Holga's cheap construction, combined with poor quality materials and simple meniscus lens often yields pictures that display vignetting, blur, light leaks, and other distortions

-The plastic camera body is no less prone to fault, often allowing light to leak into the camera.

-Problems with fogging and scratched negatives are also plentiful.

maybe, im starting to have probelms with mine.

whats up with yours.

since medium format film is nigh on impossible to get here, i got an adapter that lets me use 35mm film in it. i'm not sure whether lights bleeds too much, but from the two rolls of film i've put through it, i've got maybe.... 8 photos?

yeah it might not be winding tight enough against the inner frame,

so the images arent getting exposed onto the film correctly?

im not too sure, cause i never shot with the 35mm.

check this site,

it may have some info on there,

or you can email the guy, hes pretty helpful.

what did the rest of the roll look like? blank (like see through), dark, or a mix of the two? how did the photos that actually come out look? underexposed/overexposed? were the pictures that came out all grouped together or in various places on the roll?

holgamods is a good place to look for advice on you holga.

check to make sure that the shutter is working right. sounds like maybe the film is not getting exposed at all. this may also be stating the obvious, but make sure your lighting is good and all that. the first couple of rolls that i shot on an older med. format camera that i have came out blank because there was just not enough light coming into it.

yeah i dont shoot indoors at all unless i have a flash.

holga is only good in day light.

indoor is pretty much useless, but if its got the built in flash, then its only useless if you shoot anything further than 3 ft away.

i have the holga cfn, which is the built in color flash,

but anythign further than about 3 ft, doesnt expose.

so i bought a holga with a hot shoe, and use one of my flashes

works better, but looks like i put too much effort into a toy camera...haha
