Sure he was there doing it, but who actually claims him as their favorite?
Guest KING OF HELL
his actual music was so ahead of itself. he has not much of a legacy because he died real early. its not so much that he idnt have the music right down. its more like some early style master that gets slept on because he only nailed it for a few years... RumPuncher
oh I am in total agreement about his music, and the stories about his life are the stuff of legends too. There's so many stories about his sleeping with married women and getting caught then chased out of town. wild! to continue with the writer comparisons... I'd say he's like Spade. He pushed the art form and influenced the entire history of people who came after, but never really got the same level of recognition that some of his students did despite his bricklaying styles. right? TEE_rase_war
Robert had a sad story, being poisoned and all. His music is quite something, and as I like listening to Clapton, and Jimi you can tell they listened to Robert Johnson themselves. Their music reflectes what he did, I have all his works in a box set, along with this comes a story about his death. Keep on rolling
RumPuncher
"On Saturday night, August 13, 1938 at a jook joint named Three Forks, Johnson played his last gig. Of the many rumors concerning Johnson's death in 1938 (stabbing, poison, the devil catching up with him), poisoning is the most prevalent and most substantiated. His death certificate was found in 1968, verifying his death in Greenwood, Mississippi." I've heard that he was sleeping with the owner of the Three Forks. He was a ladies man, and that caught up with him too!
