Mr.LonelyHeart
Originally posted by seeking think of all the people you know who are incredible drawers. not 'artists' per se, but people who can actually sit down and just draw. now think of how many of them are female. why is that? lots of women go into 'art' or photography or sculpture or any number of things, and are incredible at it, but how many women do you that can sit down and bang out a still life? i'm told that my ex's, roomates girlfriend can. (if you get my drift) Yeah I've thought about this for years. My mom is a great "drawer", as is my better half, but yeah... I think it has something to do with males being more competetive. as much as boys might learn to draw because it's "fun" or they want to "express themselves", I think a large element is still a desire to compete, like sports or something. I started drawing at a young age and remember wanting to "be the best", and yes, maybe gain some attention. While females can gain attention just by being attractive, guys have to do a little bit more to prove their worth most of the time, I think. Another element might be that drawing is a very basic form of creation for men. While women can create life, men I suppose have to find other means. Or maybe that's complete bullshit, I'm not sure. johnny
i know a lot of chicks that can and can't paint/draw worth a shit. whether or not they're outweighed by men in numbers i can't confirm. i almost hope i'm missing your point on that cause i just can't compute when i sleep and hour and a half. Cracked Ass
I'm with Ube. There are obvious differences at a primal level between the sexes. It does not create a superiority or inferiority. They are just differences. Women emphasize emotions over logic, fun over competition, sympathy over solutions, compassion over aggression. There is nothing wrong with any of these, although the male chauvinist will distort them into liabilities by saying (instead of the four things I said) that women are dumb, silly, impractical, and passive. Women wonder what's wrong when a man is silent. Nothing! In fact, that's why he's silent - no complaints. In the absence of obvious anger, a man who is not talking feels that everything is satisfactory. I have yet to meet a woman who understands this, even after I've told her several times. If I ever meet a woman who is comfortable with long silences I may reverse my negative stance on marriage. Those who think gender differences are all societal or "learned" differences are incorrect in my view. There are very good practical reasons for nature to have differentiated. A woman in late pregnancy (in a primitive setting) is slower, weaker, more vulnerable physically. The man, who doesn't have to carry the child, is more logically endowed with attributes that are vital as a protector and provider, at least during this vulnerable time: he is strong, more inclined to fight, hunt, take risks, carry loads. The woman, who presumably has a man to take care of that stuff, is better designed to nurture. (It's no accident that women are at their most ferocious and devious when their child is threatened: something must have gotten past the man!) These primitive attributes do not disappear with the ascendancy of a more sophisticated society, even if many of them are no longer needed. They lurk unacknowledged beneath the civilized veneer and give rise to a lot of misunderstandings. Everybody would be better off if they could air, acknowledge, and understand primal gender differences, and refrain from using them as an argument that one side or the other is superior. siloette
This may get lengthy..But Ive been sorting over alot of things similiar to this subject recently.. Sorry if it gets off point. I think what it comes down to in my eyes is how genders are placed into "roles". Everything in this world is built on class. For centurys everything had is certain place in life..Its our human nature to put labels on everything.. We have to name and distinguish every detail. We feel uncomfortable if we dont know where we stand.. I think its tit for tat.. Fashion magazines are a prime example..All this care is taken to place these oddly anorexic young girls in bizzarre settings to sell clothes. CLOTHES..strips of material.. Most of the models these days have the bodies of teenage boys..But to womens eyes this is what is ideal and wanted from us..Yet if you look in any popular mens magazine its the opposite..girls with some backside and bust.. Everywhere you look hot chicks are selling everything from beverages to cars.. advertising directed towards men seems to be if you have a big dick and money you can get those models and women seem to feel that if they lose those love handles they can get those men. Our society put a definition on success.. Gave it a name and a face and a group.. Its taught in our schools and pushed in our faces everywhere you go.. Somewhere along the line sex equaled shame. I called home recently..My little brother turned 13 recently and was punished for surfing porn on the web..Well what the fuck do you expect? Everytime I check my emails theres about ten spam filled emails anywhere from "see this young girl suck huge black cock" to "lose ten pounds today!" to "get the length she wants" to "see animals doing it with double D sluts" I think what it all boils down to is that we all feel the need for love in one way or another..Whether its fame or fortune or great thighs or a full body tan or a great sex life..It is all things we think we need to get love and attention.. Great thoughts by the way cracked..

But you get what im saying. My better half is convinced that it is because most clothing designers are gay men..and find the narrow figure more appealing. What ever it is..it puts a large impact on youth today. When you look at alot of the images displayed by pop culture its pretty disgusting. Somewhere along the lines Artists and people like Einstein stopped being the next generations role models... And freaks like Micheal Jackson and people with no talent stepped up into the lime light. Divorce is more than fifty percent..and people just cant communicate..(sorry about the spelling) Dont get me wrong..Micheal was dope in the 80's. Shit I used to know the thriller steps by heart..and Im glad we arent set on this leave it to Beaver "norm " expectations. But I Just feel weird when I see Flesh & Money placed on a higher standard than wits or morals. I know im getting off track of the sociolgy behind it..But I think you see where im going. Guest sneak
it comes down to how children are socialised. im willing to be that if boys and girls were treated completely equal (in terms of socialisation) for the 1st few years of their lives that there would be little or no difference between the way the 2 thought. the major differences ive come up with are that boys tend to act then think, while girls go for the opposite way.
