Abstract Rationality

Recommended Posts

So I get to the spot, simple lay up. Only to find one of the boxcar's doors open. Nothing serious, we've all seen parked cars with the doors open at times. As I got closer I see all the cardboard beds on the ground and the merchandise exposed, nothing was taken so I was confused wether workers left it like that or someone came to actually vandalize...I tried to put the shit back in and closing the door but that was impossible, it was too heavy( no finger prints left). I proceeded to do what I went there for but way more cautious, no one likes to get nailed for theft, AND vandalism...

Anyone know how to shut such a heavy door? Mind you this is not the yard, or THAT close to a loading place to leave it open in that manner...

Cracked, where u at?

Depends on the merchandise. If it was massive rolls of paper, it's not unusual. If it was desirable stuff you could walk away with easily, then the door shouldn't have been open.

Shutting boxcar doors by yourself is iffy, depends on the door. Some are bent, dented, too fucked up to move without a forklift (the preferred tool for opening/closing doors). Others slide easily enough, just stay out of the way once they get rolling or you can lose your fingers (and be ready for a loud, uncontrolled slam).

Final problem: closing the door on a looted car solves nothing. If the door seal is broken, and stuff's gone, they're gonna know and investigate right there. (The door seal on a loaded boxcar is a plastic or metal ribbon threaded through two holes on the car: one on the door, and a matching one on the doorframe, which are in the same spot when the door is closed. The seal is easily broken with a pair of snips, but that's the point: to give away that there was tampering.)

I'd be furious if somebody broke into a car at a layup of mine...but I might not paint there for a while, and certainly not until the looted car was processed and removed. If you paint there before the theft is investigated, they'll find your fresh paint, your footprints, etc. and maybe assume it's all one perpetrator. (Remember, cops are probably not used to the idea of a vandal OPPOSED to thievery.)

I would have left everything alone. If workers left it like that themselves, the next shift they'll be like "Who put all that stuff back?" and you just attracted attention to your spot. If it was genuine tampering, they'll know anyway because the seal is broken. So there's not much you can do.

felony...how ridiculous is that? a pretty hefty charge for something we see as beautiful. it's not fair, but part of the game we play...game on!

....SOMETIMES..stressed.....In an autoplant factory my friend worked at..We used to paint and bust seals open, and leave empty beer cans. Homeboys used to throw them away not giving a fuck, Eventually knowing it was our sign of a good time the night before....But, I guess that was just a story.....We knew where it was going, and tampered seals didn't matter....just a reminiscent story..... We ONLY did it knowing if it got outta hand, we'd tell those damn drunks it was us for some good storytime shit. DON"T DO IT....just some shit I'm kinda proud of......I could do without blowin' spots up!!!!!haha. 40 year old black dudes talkin' about Vanessa Williams with a pint in their back pocket...good times, good times.....
