How to help prevent war on Iraq (seriously)

You say america is based on racism genocide and slavery. What happened to freedom and free thought. Capitolism is human nature. The voice of the people, especially the workers needs to be heard and respected and we have a government set up to do this. We are entering a period of narrow minded very conservative american leaders. The assurance and preservation of our ideals is something this country has every right to protect, but this needs to happen in a way that will not let all hell break loose. The looming danger is that IRAQ has some sort of weapon capable of causing massive destruction and that if we(america? UN? EU?) do not act it will be to late. He will hit our territories or isreal. But once this happens he knows he will face the full force of the world. And this time the same mistakes will not be made. So If somebody could just put Busch in check, move towards a solution involving the eventual overthrow of suddam, there would need to be a beurocracy capable of filling the void(preferably not american soldiers). I think we will see a public outcry large enough to bring the conservative republican body back down to earth. Get ascroft and busch to really look at the situatioon and not just blind the public with speeches on "AMERICAN VALUES"

I would also not consider myself a brainwashed liberal but without agression towards the US or our allies there is not reason all out obliteration of IRAQ. Use the UN, an institution whose mission is to balance world order. Now some may say theyy are pacafists but do you really think Bush has considered as many options or understands the situation as well as Kofi Anan. Their action may not be as swift but in the long run the final product will be more stable and prosperous than anything the US could atain.

first of all... its capitalism, no "O", but that is belittled by the fact that thay is the most retarded fucking thing ive ever heard. If capitAlism was human nature then every human in every society would follow it.

However this is most certainly not true, in fact there is not any economic system that is human nature. tribalism, socialism, anarchism, communism, there are hundreds of political/economic structures that all kinds of different people subscribe too, how they think things should be. human nature....bah humbug.

*edited* upon reading your post again, i have no idea what made you say this or how it pertains to whatever point you thought you were making in the first place. your talking about capitalism is human nature and then you say the voice of the worker needs to be heard? thats ridiculous.whatever.

Guest deth dealer

I agree w/ 'I'm not witty' I just did'nt feel like pointing out such a goofy statement. Human nature is to eat, sleep, party, fuck etc...not sit in rush hour traffic every fuckin day making some dick head rich while i make nothing, the economy is going nowhere fast and this is why, no one want to bust their ass for some ingrateful slavedriver boss. Fuck it all, the global economy is on the rise and guess what it ain't capitalist!

It's Been a Long, Long Time

Since the United States fought a war on it's own soil. The American people are fat, happy and lazy. They are very much used to the good life we live here, and they believe that they are entitled to it, just by virtue of being born here.

Other people of the world do not think like this. They know better.

Some people believe that the American people are so morally weak and economically undisciplined that they are like a staggering drunk--one little push and they can be overthrown.

In large measure, this may be true of many of us. The Great Depression was a long time ago. Very few people who lived through it as adults are still alive. My Dad was born in 1925. He was four when Wall Street crashed, and 13 when WWII broke out in Europe. He was just barely old enough (17) to catch the last couple of years of the war, in the Army Air Corps. Although he lived through it, he was a kid, and didn't really understand what was going on. But my grandparents , who raised five children in the middle of abject poverty on farms in the North Texas Dust Bowl, understood it very well. Til the day they died, they scrimped and saved, and ratholed extra cash in canning jars ("No banks--you can't trust them.") My grandfather stockpiled EVERYTHING. He had scores of boxes of 12 gauge shotgun shells for his old single-shot shotgun, and boxes of .30-30 cartridges for his Winchester. He bought boots and overalls and "saved them for a rainy day." They canned their own garden vegetables. He told me once that "owning your own land is the best thing a man can do for his family. Don't buy on credit. Pay cash on the barrelhead for whatever you buy, and remember that money spent on family is never wasted."

I do not heed his very sage advice, but I should, especially the part about REMAINING DEBT FREE.

You can't do shit about how stupidly our country is behaving economically, but you can do something about the way you behave personally. Don't be wasteful. Don't borrow. Don't think like a spendthrift. Take pride in TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. "Keep a Clean Camp." You won't regret it. When the shit hits the fan, you'll take it in stride, because you'll be prepared.

Everybody made fun of the survivalists before Y2K. I know several who prepared heavily. They are still heavily prepared. Come what may, they are ready to deal with it. Are you?

Everything that humans do can be considered an extension of "human nature." In life we're humans doing what comes naturally, no matter what it is that we're doing. Depending on your viewpoint even supposedly "unnatural" tendencies within the human sphere--things like pollution and environmental destruction--can be recognized as prominent aspects of our "human nature."

At the same time each one of us is an individual and might have a different idea of what "human nature" means to us specifically, or even generally, so the concept becomes blurry.

Whatever, I guess.
