funkUup Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 "B-Boy" characters Good question, Its unclear to me as to the precise originator of these classic characters is, but they were clearly influenced by Bode' characters with a contemporary(at the time) twist. Shame would have to mentioned as istramental, he was a master of these characters, and the flicks shown in the book "Spraycan Art" Spread this style of character worldwide. You are correct in that TC5/IBM popularized these characters on NYC Tains in the 80's. On side note Doze Paid some visits to San Diego in 88 and put a few cats down with IBM. As far As I know Zone is the only one from this era in SD that still actively pushes it. Raid(RIP)AFP from San Diego kept these characters alive in SD in the late 80's when everyone else was rockin anime characters and was a heavy influence on Zone.
