sittin at mom's house... i've had it with me off and on, but the window doesn't close so i have to be careful about where i park it, especially if it's gonna be sittin there for a while... not to mention i could feed a small town on the amout of money i spend on gas in that thing... when i leave my mom's gonna take care of it for me... and, no, when, you can't borrow it while i'm gone... ;)

sounds like a good plan...and if there is an amtrak route from louisville to LA or San Diego I will be out west alot sooner than I thaught...I don't care to ride a train for a while instead of shelling almost $300 for a plane ticket.

I am looking forward to your visit junkie.

don't worry,I never use the term "grits" for cigarettes.....but I know people that do......I thought I would put it down anyway in the "slang" thread because it sounds funny....

as for amtrack, i heard they've had some really cheap tickets (thanks for lookin out seeking) but my moving is gonna be so sporadic and fast that the ameripass is gonna work out really well... however, i do plan on trying out the amtrack scam at least once just to see if it'll work...

i am not really sure if this effects those out west or not, but i know currently in the east, but ameripass that are copied do not work.

do not even try it, it does not work.

the last time i rode greyhound, i used a copied pass. i made it up fine, but on the way back got found out and got kicked off, forcing me to find another way back home.

but there are plently of other ways for getting around for little to no money, esp. if your traveling within the united states....

as of about a year ago i knew people that were traveling on forged ameripasses... like i said, they've changed em... although i've hand made state id's that have passed so i'm pretty sure of myself... but, also like i said before, i doubt i'll be able to pull this off and will probably end up buying one...

  • 2 weeks later...

7/4 12:53am

well, i'm traveling now... i'm on amtrack, train 14- i'm heading for portland oregon. the train arrived at the emeryville station about a half hour late. i got on, and ended up in the observation car... i sat here, listening to the rednecks, before heading downstairs for a couple of mountain dews and a hotdog...

gilbey's vodka smells and tastes a lot like rubbing alcohol... but it mixes surprisingly well with mountain dew...

one hotdog, 2 mountain dews, and 4 oz's of gilbey's later, and i'm still in the observation car trying really hard not to laugh out loud at the rednecks sitting near by... these are some truly classy folks... the little trays under the windows are completely littered with budweiser cans... 2 out of the 4 guys have tasmanian devil tattoos that i can see... they spent most of the time in here eithertelling stories about being drunk or making incredibly racist or homophobic jokes...

(at this point i drank some beers, and wrote a lot more stuff, but now that i'm reading it i realize it's really boring and hard to understand, so... skip ahead a few pages to me getting off to smoke a ciggarette at the sacramento stop...)

i didn't think i was really drunk. but i stepped off the train and almost fell on my face...

i smoked my cigarette and watched the people waiting to get on the train... there was a lady with 3 older retarded people. one of them was in a wheel chair... i asked her if she needed a hand pushing him up the ramp, and both of her gave me a quick "No!" before giving me a strange look...

(at this point i wrote about the russian guy who was also waiting, and how i wished i'd brought my camera off the train with me, the rednecks talk about guns and UFO's, i try to bum cigarettes off them, and then i pass out...)

woo!

7/6 3:45pm

i got to portland at about 4:30 yesterday... i walked around for about 20 minutes, trying to find cigarettes, and then cvalled my buddy dave... he came and picked me up and we went to his house. got inside, he gave me a beer, and we went to the porch... we sat, talked, listened to music, and killed a 12 pack...

around this time mike woke up. he'd been in the hospital last night and was still pretty doped up...

we talked a little, played with their dogs, and eventually me and dave went to get more booze...

so we spent another hour or so drinking, and then went and launched fireworks off their balconey...

dave works at a porn store... we were getting bored, and pretty fucking drunk, so we walked down to go look for freaky porn to rent...

we stumbled all the way down there, got inside, and got kicked out after 2 minutes for being too drunk... so we went next door to hang out with the whores at the "massage palor"... business was slow, and they were bored, so we went and got another 12 pack of pabst, annd kicked it in the back room with the whores and watched "very bad things"... no one seemed to find that as ironic and entertaining as i did...

at one point a customer came in and one of the girls took him to another room... she came back about 10 minutes later and was cleaning off her chest with baby wipes...

around midnight we started crawling home... on the way, dave walked straight into a crotch height hand rail and spent a few minutes rolling around on the ground grabbing his nuts. i was rolling around trying not to vomit cuz i was laughing so hard...

anyways, we got back to the house, i unrolled my sleeping bag and passed out on the couch on the porch...

today i hung out with mike for a while, then dave gave me a ride downtown on his way to work... i sat down with my cup and sign for about an hour and a half... only 2 people stopped, but those 2 people gave me a $10 bill and a starbucks card with $18 on it...

portland is a weird town... it's incredibly clean. there's almost no graff, except for a handful of shitty tags. downtown is huge, but there's not that much stuff, all the stores are just really big... however, all the people seem pretty nice (except for that bitch at cigarettes cheaper) and all the girls here are really hot... really hot...

same day around 11:00pm

me and dave are still trying to piece together parts of last nite... neither of us actually remembers going to get the second 12 pack. we remember telling the girls we'd go get more beer, and then we remember being in the backroom. we don't know where we bought it, and niether of us is missing moneydave doesn't remember walking into the rail, he just knows his nuts hurt... and so on...

7/8 2:00am

it rains up here in portland. it's a really good rain. it comes down hard, and it gets pretty dark, but it doesn't get cold. i really like it, but it ruins everything...

i found a dumpster with 2 boxes full of bread, but they were totally soaked... and any attempt at tagging was totally in vain unless i anted a wet sleeve...

7/8 11:45pm

fuck the portland library... i couldn't get online and now i'm gonna have even more stuff to type up later...

7/13 12:50am

my gloves are wet and they're tracking water across the page as i write...

the zine symposium starteds today... i got up early with only a few hours sleep and got my finger tattooed... it's just a black ring that matches the ones on my arm...

after that i went back to the house i'm staying at and slept for about an hour, then caught a bus to the PSU caqmpus...

(i'm currently in albequerque and i need to leave and go catch my bus to santa fe, but i have lot more writing to, so that'll hopefully happen soon...)

 what money? i've been stealing and dumpstering all my food for the last 4 days...

however, i do keep my boots in my sleeping bag...

i'm now in santa fe, to see some friends' band play, and then we're hopefully gonna con them into driving us to some waterfall we heard is kinda near by...

however, i only have about 3 minutes left on this stupid computer, so so long folks... i still have a ton of stuff that i need to type and post, so hopefully i'll get to a library soon that doesn't have time limits on their computers...

see ya soon everybody... :)

continued!

then caught a bus to the PSU campus for the zine symposium... we listened to a bunch of people read from zines who really didn't know how to speak in front large crowds, and now i'm sitting in a park nearby...

It's kinda cool, there's maybe 30 of us, and most of the people played kickball for about 1/2 an hour. we also had a breif game of red rover, and some game kinda like capture the flag, but involving spinning and getting really dizzy...

now everyone's sitting in the middle of the grass with an acoustic guitar. good stuff. now i'm gonna fix the hole in my glove...

we got free food tonight at a hare krsna house. me and josh borrowed a coule of bikes and rode over there. they brought us all upstairs and had us sit in rows on the floor. then they came around and gave us lots and lots of food... for free...

they were actually really cool. from what i heard, a lot of them used to be hardcore kids. also, they didn't let the fact that there were so many of us bum them out (there were about 15 locals, and around 60 traveling kids)... they just made more food... really cool...

later, outside, i bummed some tobacco to the "pimp hare krsna" who learned how to "hand roll smokes like a pro in the yard at san quen"... i ended up talking to him about religion and shit for about 15 minutes... nice guy...

after, me and josh got back on the bikes and rode to...

...the party i'm at now. i'm poor, i have no beer, i'm running out fo tobacco, and i'm not realy digging on the bands playing. but there's this squatter that i met at a kegger last night who's pretty cool...

woo! i need beer...

7/16 3:25pm

i'm on greyhound. portland to santa fe is supossed to be around a 44 hour ride... i think we have about 20 hours to go.

i left portland with about $6... i think i have about a dollar left. this sucks, but thankfully we stopped in coalinga and i was able to steal a box of crackers...

so anyways, a bunch of hours, 2 tacos, 3 rotting pieces of bread, a gallon of water, 8 (yes, only 8) cigarettes, 1 box of crackers, 4 buses, 3 drivers later and we're leaving LA...

as much as people hate on LA, it wins me over every time i come thru... last time i was here, i guess i just stopped in the wrong places, cuz i hardly saw any graff, but this time i saw a lot of really awesome stuff... and i finallygot to see thesaber piece... dope...

anywho, we're going to santa fe to see a friend's band play, then we're off to athens, GA... we're gonna be there till sunday or monday i think...

7/16 6:10pm

i'm currently waiting for the bus to leave for albequerque from barstow... on the way in here i was commenting on what a hole it is, but then we approached the yard... lots of trains... then as we got closer to the station i noticed the train museum and the Rt. 66 museum... we got off, found out our transfer bus wouldn't be arriving for about 45 minutes, and went to check out the museums... unfortunately they're only open fri-sun, but on the way back we bumped into steve from georgia...

he told us that most of the trains that come thru here were hotshots (but they do stop here...) he told us where specifically to catch out, he warned us about the piggybacks and wind-blisters if we were heading east,he told us a good place to sleep here, and, along with all that, he kicked down a 32 of king cobra and a cigarette... good guy,i wish him luck...

on to santa fe...

7/18 7:40pm

spent most of yesterday and a good chunk of today in santa fe... saw the blottos play- they were a little scared when we showed up, that was entertaining... down town santa fe remins me of disneyland... i kept expecting someone in a bluevest to come up and harrass me whenever i spit... donut shop has a good (read over flowing with sugary goodness) dumpster, and both times i went into wild oats my pockets seemed a lot fuller when i left for some reason...

last night we got to the greyhound station at about 10:00pm (only after begging the blottos to take us to vegas with them- it would only have been 9 people in an already crowded van... needless to say they said no...) the next bus wasn't laeving until 2:00am so we hung out out side for a couple hours until giving in to fatigue... we ended up sleeping on the roof of a nursery near by... sloped, corrugated steel roof... i slid about 2 feet while i was sleeping, but there was a wall at the end...

we got up around 11:00, caught a bus a few hours later, and now i'm back in albequerque, waiting for another bus...

i should be in athens GA in a few dyas, anyone wanna meet up?
