porque Posted July 5, 2002 Author Share Posted July 5, 2002 i know of someone that was caught putting up stickers and they were charged with graffiti (they weren't even graff stickers, just band stickers) but in court the judge went easy on them and explained the problems with graff adn such and just gave him warning...i would think that in most places if you put up stickers with your name on it it would carry the same penalty as putting up tags... ...it seems more and more places are making it a felony to do anykind of graffiti...that's pretty fucked up if you ask me, i can understand them making it a felony after say $1000 of damage but from doing one tag is ridiculous...it's odd because i could go around throwing bricks through windows and it would be misdemenor vandalism but if i write my name on something it's a felony... ...7-11 bags...think about it... Blank Posted July 8, 2002 Share Posted July 8, 2002 I do not consent to a search of my person, belongings, home or vehicle...i retain my 4'th amendment rights and all rights under the united states constitution...i will say nothing more untill my attorney is present... and throw in something about how you're in a hurry and would like to be on your way... cops are really bad, they called me up 5 years ago and told me they needed to talk to me about graffiti, mind you i was still a minor and they said i didn't need to tell my parents or anything. i agreed and was kind of scared because of this diesle yard i bombed, we totally wrecked shop and created over $50,000 worth of damage and said they had fingerprints of one of the guys i was with and he dimed me out. he did dime me out i saw the statement he wrote, is wasn't a formal arrest when i got there, i denied everything, but i got a summons to go to court. when i went to court, the judge dismissed my case and said he had no jurisdiction over me and the other two guys got in trouble but the dude who ratted got the worst punishment since the other kid was only 15 and had his case handled in juivenille. needless to say, the guy caught a bad one from my boots and the stick in my hand, and by the law afterwards... type R Posted July 10, 2002 Share Posted July 10, 2002 one factor that does influence the results of being stopped is age, at least in my area.. if you are under 18 then most likely you wont be going home anytime soon, because of the bullshit of parents, etc. that goes with being a minor, this has not only happened with graffiti but also with parties that have been busted, anyone over 18 had there info taken and was released, but the minors had to be escorted home by a parent..this is in response to the post saying not to carry an ID, just remember it can both help and hurt you, and lying never hurt either. REGULATOR Posted July 12, 2002 Share Posted July 12, 2002 argh...almost got caught today...i was at a cut (not painting, but i had paint on me) and some cops came in and found me....i told him that i was taking pictures, but then i didnt have a camera he he fgured that out real quick, he found markers on me and shit...he also searched my bag but luckily my cans were wrapped up in a bag so he didnt look...i told him that i didnt want to be searched but he said he was gonna do it anyway because i was at the place (didnt kno if this was legal or not) he took my information and sadly i gave him my real info cus i needed my name to match the math papers in my bag...but i gave him a fake tag cus he knew i wrote..mother fucker took my miniwide and shit...so heres some ways to be prepared CONCEAL YOUR CANS WELL!!!!! put them into like a small bag inside your bag HAVE AN ALIAS!!!! have a special name, adress, fone number etc memorized in your brain for when you take information CARRY A CAMERA..you can say you were just taking pictures luckily he let me off with a warning but im pissed he took my markers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Anyhow im from down under , melbourne australia and best thing i can really say is police and graffiti dont mix... So what you have to aim for anytime you go out is not only to bomb up a spot or do a peice.. but not to get caught, pulled over or spotted. Always be 'cautious' with bystanders, especially say workers in a freight yard. (seems to be different in some places in us.) But yeah besides that people just driving past you or someone peeking out their window can get you into trouble! With cops there really isnt much you can do against the search bit, of course they cant do much if they get you with cans and stuff, probably most they can do is take them with them to the station (something with intent to cause criminal damage or vandalism) and if ur game to get them, good on you .. if not then you buy/rack and go from the start , with knowledge they got your name. If ur caught painting, then i guess ur fucked.. If u run away and you get done.. youre fucked even more. ALL COPS ARE ASSHOLES! Im sorry mista officerrr but its true, some are little cunts some are big gay assholes, so dont be fooled with their stories and intimidations, unless you saw them and they saw you painting, they dont have much if any proof. Which means once again youre back to 'name and address' and 'look what we have here some spraycans' lines. They will try to get you to say what you were up to, to rat in on your friends and to tell them your tag, in exchange to let you go or not to press charges. ITS ALL BULLSHIT. so watch yourself and watch what you say. Best is to say as little as possible if nnothing. Obvious things with painting and not getting busted: -dress differently to the 'stereotype' even if it makes you look like a homeless bum or a some fag. -be polite to cops even if they are the biggest fuckwit faggots youve come across, polite but to the point. -try and NOT make it obvious that you just did that tag 10 meters back, if say a car comes past on a busy street, dont run away or act suspiciously, walk slowly in direction of the car or sit down on the curb and pretend ur sick or waiting for a taxi. -have an exit if things go wrong, that way if you HAVE to run, you can run somewhere. -gloves are a must whatever you do. -if you drink and paint, youre a bloody idiot. (that involves drugs too) :dazed: heheh Few personal opinions: solo missions are a bitch but sometimes if not all the time cops wont bother stopping you when ur alone.. experience #1. Gloves are good, usually at night it gets a bit chilly so a light jumper and just pull it over your gloves and you should be fine when ur walking around. If youre just going for a bomb take what you need and nothing more! Usually having more shit can get you into trouble and you will hesitate if you have to dump your cans and run for it. Think what you want more, that can (no matter how much it cost you) or being caught .. same goes with a backpack full of cans.. if you can , stash it.. if not fuck it, its not worth getting done for. Watch out for security cameras, you dont need that sort of exposure. Most of tapes im sure go to the cops if the person has put the camera there to find out whos trashing that wall day after day. I think that covers most, its a bit of everything and least advice when in trouble cos i try to stay away from it, especially cops, again stay calm even if ur sprinting away from cops and dont admit to ANYTHING unless they are standing behind you when ur painting. I wear mechanix gloves, they have a padded finger so you dont getta blister when you spray and they keep you warm in the winter. they also are soft so any fingerprints on the cans will be smudged but just in case i wipe the cans after i empty one and ill throw it away. ifa cop does happen to come across you, you dont want an empty can of the color that all wet down the way. your caught right there. another thing if possible i dont carry a a bag period, thats incriminating if you are out at 3 in the morning, just go with a few cans in the cargo pants and always look hella dirty cops wont bug you if you do, theyll jut think you are a drifter.
