let me ask you an ethical question...

(I expect biased opinions, but I want to know what you think.)

Situation:

I'm in a new apartment above a store.

My door is covered in tags, many of which are mine.

And there's others of writers I know and respect.

The Door is Green and it's right in between a

Flower stand and a Fruit Market. The place is beautiful.

I want to paint the door back to flat green.

Question:

Is it ethical to do a 'buff'?

The landlord would do it, but he doesn't really care about shit.

The 2nd appartment doesn't give a damn (summer sub-let).

I want this place to be as nice as possible,

but because of my personal involvement in graffitit,

I'd feel bad about buffing some of the other people.

It's not like it's anything special... just tags, no rips.

so what should I do?

u can buff ur door if u want...

where i live theres just familys that walk down the street with the clothes and graffiti removal shit... no joke.. they buff signs, lamp posts, electrical boxes...etc..

jesus christ. You write but you will only paint where you don't live? Well to benest it sounds like double standards to me. If feel sorry for the poor fucks that have to clean up shit thats not "in your neighbourhood". Sounds quite funny a graffiti writer who does not want tags outside his appartment. If you personally don't like it think of how normal people hwo have no idea about graffiti feel when you bomb their property? If other peoples property is ok to write on then so is yours. Everyone any where near this door find and smack it hard.

Personally I like it when stuff gets buffed, as looking at the same tags day in, day out bores me to death.

studies have shown that Green is the safest graffiti colour.

People just dont like hitting dark green. Maybe because it's a natural colour,

or because black doesn't show up so well.

And the door is hard to see in the summer because of the fruit stand

on one side and the flower stand on the other.

and then there's the 'broken window senario' we all know and love.

so unless someone makes a point of being on my door

(which could happen), I should stay clean.

this may be a sign that its time to hang up the cans bro... you sound little too mature to be still doing this shit.

and that dark green shit don't work. they came up with that in the early 90's. every thing that had been white or gray or tan in my area that keep getting hit got buffed green instead. so then writers hit it with white or silver.

thanks! I take that as a compliment! but I'm not stopping!

I think its that I'm partly worried about having people find out

that's where I live. It's almost like having a sign on the front door.

I stopped advertising a long time ago.

I even chuckle when I see kids with tags on their backpacks

and their shitty blackbooks out on the bus.

There comes a time when letting people know that you write

isn't as important as you once thought it was.

Now on the other hand if you buffed it and rocked a hand so you had the spot alone that would be fucked up.

Yeah... that was never even an option.

why dont you paint a tree on the door.

so then when monkeys run loose from your zoo they'll come and shit all over your door.

buff it. fuck it. sperm it. its your door. i would have fun by hanging out my window and waiting for some one to hit it. then BAMM. take their money, paint, markers. and sneakers.

ur a writer right? if so i wouldnt let the other writers where u live know that ur buffing shit.. but if someone tags the door the my appartment building i would probably buff it... u pay good money to live there and when family or friends come over u dont want it to look run down and shit...

ummmm well for one you know how different places have different buff colours? well my whole city is buffed in that dark green colour. And believe me it is the most annoying colour in the world, however dont think for a second that any colour is graffiti resistant even in the slightest way. Its a shit colour but it adds to the contrast of the tags. no colour is a bad colour.

On the other hand, i know how you feel. just clean it. Its not contradictory. You like the colour green. Just think of it as a big tag, thats green.
