I didn't have cable then, and I was at my Uncle's flipping through the channels when I saw the glorious bicycle stunt trickery being performed. I caught it two or three other times while at his house, never seeing the whole movie though. I then got clued in somehow as to what the name was and whatnot and rented it every time we went to the video store (which wasn't much at all.) Finally, as my own BMX days went on, a riding buddy of mine lent me his copy, in which I watched the whole movie, finally, several times. Now some years have gone by without me seeing Rad.
