99% of rock sucks. metal is closer to classical or jazz depending on which type of metal you're looking at. i'm still not voting.

i throw punk in with rock. it really fits there. it'd be like separating house from techno or something. metal really doesn't fit in any group because it's elevated itself beyond rock in every aspect (sometimes lyrics arent much). METAL

dnb for real!!

and please do not EVER use the term 'Techo' again.

Just like 'Rock' there's so many generes out there.

Techno is NOT what people think it is. It's not dance, not trance,

not house, not 'rave'.

It is Ritchie Hawtin, Derrik May, Plastikman, Detroit Soul.

yep.. and d:fuse too!

I'm way more into the detroit sound than the german at the moment.

Detroit has bits of house and soul (it is Motown you know),

where as the Germans seems to have a trance influence... *shudder*

i guess it depends what you're listening to zesto, none

of the stuff i've listened to would i say has a 'trance'

thing in there.....you know...the minimal shit hawtin was

inspired by..............

you like moodyman?

*nitpickin', isn't it 'fuse'? where'd you get

the 'd:'?

oops... d:fuse is a different deal all together. I was thinking of something else.

Yes there use to be a serious 'minimal' sound to Hawtin,

but now it's so much fuller. It's like he's making techno-dub.

Certainly on the 'Closer to the Edit' album, the soul just oozes.

But I believe were talking about the same ish.

I haven't heard of moodyman, but I'm going to search right now. edit* --> foundthis

You may want to check for Mike Shannon and Algorhythm from Montreal.

zesto, i haven't heard much recent hawtin, i'm

actually not a big so called 'techno' head guy...

my overall experience and knowledge is fairly elementary,

with a few exceptions.

i actually met algorhythm a good 3 or 4 years ago

at a party.....i can't remember if he was good or

not, i know he's been around for awhile though. bad name.

we didn't really talk.

my homey met and hung out with moodyman in london

a couple years ago...

i'll peep that link.
