I used to play VETTE, I used to run over the little people.

also I once bought Wolfenstein 3D for 2 bucks at Walmart!

one of the best games.

I used to play that game on Qbasic I think it was Nibbles???? with the gorillas throwing bananas, I can't remember.

and the other one with the snake

I would also check out joke books at the library and retype them on my computer, that's all you could really do.

i remember back in the early AOL days when piracy was "underground" or whatever you would say and you could go into private rooms called "warez" or "mm" or "server" and get 500 mails in your mailbox full of all kinds of shit to download. i remember Leisure Suit Larry always in my mailbox but i always just deleted it. if i got a chance, i'd download it today because...i mean...im not a sex warrior or anytihng...but it would be amusing for me to play such a game. its kinda like back in the day when i used to play DopeWars with my friends to see how much money we could get selling drugs which we all found funny because none of us knew shit about drugs due to the fact that we never did any.

old school AOL "progs" were fun too for the average 7th grader. FateX and HavoC and Soilent Green and shit. those were ice.

the funny thing about all this oldschool shit is that fact that in those AOL "progs", they called the ASCII pictures "macros" which was what i wrote before "makros".

computers are nice.

i can always toss a smile at one no matter who is shitting in their pants right next to me.

progs . . yes! i got into them just before they did that AOL fix that made them uneffective. i remember just mail bombing people with my Conspiracy prog (called Cfinal? or was that something different?). that prog had such nice graphics and options. dear lord that was badass.

i wish i had the time to collect all the progs i could find and display them all on a huge website so you could all reminisce on the true goold old days of progs . . .

rock on.

they had prog themes for everything. i even had a BatGirl prog. and right when they started getting all teched out and good AOL ruined it. i think they were less family oriented and stupid then. now AOL is total horse shit.

i met my girlfriend in a random AOL private chatroom 3 years ago. i moved 500 miles my senior year in high school to live with her (6 months ago).

crazy huh?

oh yeah, i remember: {S GOTMAIL

that one was a classic cause you made everyone look up to see if they had any. there was also some {S systemstart type one that was pretty rad.

and i dont know if they have it any more, but do you remember AOL's old file search program? they hosted some little section where they added a bunch of multimedia files for people to download that were sent in. a lot of the pictures were just badly drawn MS-Paint .bmp files, but they were fun to look at.

i met some cool people online in person. i dont hang with them like i should though. its too hard to make that shit work i think. whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrros

i try not to meet anyone online these days. if i do, its by accident or something...im not a fan of that...it seems false or something.

nah, its not that bad. just a little odd at first. when i was in 8th grade my friend nick and i were talking to these girls online that went to the other middle school. one day we decided to meet up with them at the mall (embarassing i know). bad idea. bad bad idea. they were ocmplete bitches and had their 'crew' with them and all this shit. i almost gave up meeting people online in general.

but i've met some rad people from online:

beardo

boxcarwilly

ditd x cult

zach (not morris from here. but i talked to this kid for like 4 months before i met up with him to skate and hang out in louisville)

and a bunch of other people. i think the fact that i'm so antisocial makes computer talky easier then meeting someone . .

yeah...

viva la progs. didn't they have a PEPSI one or something? not made by them, but a pepsi themed one? this is not to be confused with the coca cola cd drive opener either . . .

makros knows his shit when it comes to AOL.

I remember me and my friend would go on AOL and shit and we thought it was the dopest thing, just to be talking to people across the country.

We called some chicks from PA one time, but thats about it. That was back in like 93 or something. Im an old school AOL head.

Anyway, Ill never forget those progs. Oh fuck were they fun. All my friends had them and we would go into chat rooms and show off our 'macros'. HaVoK and Fate were the originals. Then people just stole their codes and shit to make ripoffs. Then later on more people made them. For awhile, a few years ago, I actually really got into how to make them and shit. I used Visual Basic to make a few different things. But it was mostly just me copying source code, after awhile I found VB too hard and figured computer programming wasnt for me. I just remember going into chats and 'punting' people offline. That was so dope. I remember getting such big laughs. I felt so powerful, like I had the power to kick someone else offline by pressing a button.

If I remember correctly, there was no 2800 baud. I had a 2400 baud, got my first computer when I was 10. Leisure suit larry, Kings Quest, Police Quest, Hero's Quest, all sorts of poorly animated games. My first computer was 16 mhz I think. 286/sx/16.
