How do you feel about your life?

Recommended Posts

this is for all the older people on the boards (25+). Im just trying to figure out whether you guys are happy with yourself. Ya sure graffiti is great, graffiti is god whatever, how do you feel about that though? do you ever wish that you did something else? i dont know maybe this is just a dumbass subject in which i am sorry for wasting your time but do any of you ever like wanna be someone or do something else in your life. basically im trying to figure out whether graffiti limits your (everyones actually) options in life.

im a fucking dork.

No. I don't ever wish I did anything else. I, and I'm sure EVERY graf writer over 25, has other interests and ambitions outside of graf. I have no regrets. Graf has given me adventures, memories, and an outlet of expression I would never second guess.

Is there more to life than graf? Yes. Of course.

Does writing enhance my life? It has and still does. When it doesn't, I'll stop. Simple.

I love my life. You should love yours. If you don't, change it.

Do your best and never be ashamed of being who you are.

SImple.

before I get deeper into something that could further my mental illness...does graf cause antisocialism, compulsive behavior and depression? I noticed this one tag in a zine that said 'What will I do with my life'and it reminded me of this post.

Suffering for your art indeed!no pun intended

ahhhh...

I think about this a lot. you have to look at it like this. graffiti is what you make of it. I have a million loser friends whose only ambition in life is to get fucked up and paint a lot. then i have another million friends who barely ever paint and still dont do shit. I paint a minimum 2-4 times a week and I am a college graduate with many options waiting for me. It is all in how you approach not only graffiti but also your life. you can do and be who you want... graffiti is just one aspect....... I love graffiti...i owe many things to it and it will always be a huge part of my life...long live life.....long live graffiti.....

mr. positive

im no were near 25 but i would like to throw my 2 cents in. not about me but the oldest writers i have associated with are some fx cats. NOT PAINTED WITH THEM.(<to avoid hate). i went to tuff city tatoos in the bronx and met ces yes med and others. i expected them to be complete ass holes. i know its the wrong way to walk in to something but its what i thought. when i met them they were so cool. i mean so much fame they have run through and so many years of painted hands and they act and look as if they never look back on it and regret there ever so addictive telents. it is safe for me to say i want to be like them. not painting or any thing else. just feel the same way they look as if they felt..... no its not jocking. there paint talent is obvious and common now a days its there heart thats hard to find...

props to fx...

graffiti fucked me over in a way...

in school i did nothin but sceatch for 3 years then dropped out cuase i never did my work an wasnt goin any where , then i lost alot of my freinds an mostly associated with other writers an my regular crew, then got busted for graff an lost a mass of respect from my family....

but when i think about it it woke me up..

i now know that i need to work hard to live a respectable future

im goin to night school to make up the years i failed.

all my freinds i lost only were only my freinds cuase we were all in the "cool" group, i couldnt give two fucks about half those chumps

all my real freind have been here since i was like 7-8

an all my real freinds help me thru life an dont leave me stranded

an i also learned that respect grows with knowledge tell your family how you really feel an what it means to you, even if its stupid let them know its somthing you want to do an they should respect you for it. my family dosent agree but they respect my decision.

i love my life just for he fact that it could be worse it could be greatly improved but it isnt an thats just how it is...

I'm 20 and i used to have a fairly large circle of friends, all a little bit older than me ( 1 or 2 years).

At first no one really gave any thought to my graffiti. But little by little, my friends decided that they were "growing up" and that what I was doing was childish. This eventually culminated with my once best friend in the world posting my name, my tag and my address on the internet, and he did the same to some of my crew. He said if we didn't apologise on the site, and go to buisness X and confess, he was going to the cops, and threatened to put me in hospital. (if you knew this guy, you'd know thats no idle threat).

Luckily, we had him by the nuts (he's a satutory rapist), so we haven't heard from him since.

but I lost almost everyone friend-wise. So don't tell me graffiti doesn't affect you socially, maybe it just hasn't affected you yet.....

well there's always more people in your life when you're younger.

Remember grade 1 ? Everone has 30 best friends in grade 1.

Well people go their own ways and like minded people stick together.

Most of the writers I know are smart fellows,

with serious plans and goals. they dont write to 'fuck shit up'.

Look around, are you peers fuck-ups?

Well what does that say?

to paraphrase Clown Tits...

"The best thing I ever did was to stop being a graffiti writer,

and just enjoyed being a guy who wrote on stuff."

now that is wisdom.

yeah...

that quote ^ is awesome. someone finally put it into words.

if youre looking for your life's fulfillment in graffiti, along with a huge list of other things i wont get on my soapbox about, youre going to be dissapointed. for me graffiti seems like a no win situation when i think about it, the amount of work you really have to put in to "go anywhere" is insane, you have to pretty much do it full time, thats going to make you a little wierd no matter who you are. so for me graffiti is no longer about fame, its just about fun. its one of the things in my life i like, like potatoes, i want to eat them as much as i can, but if there were no potatoes tomorrow, the world keeps turning. one life to live. all of my childrens.

I'm Alive

Thanks to graff i am alive and free. When i would be on the edge of killing someone i'd go to graff. When All the shit was going down I would turn to graff. When I was pissed i would turn to graff. When i just had too much on my mind i would turn to graff. I got money cause of graff. I got pussy cause of graff. I got deep into art because of graff. I got a scholarship because of graff. Where would i be without graff? I dont know but i think i woulda been killin people as a pastime hobby. The world should thank Graff for not letting my hate change me towards a different path. Thanks Graff you've always been there for me. :D
