This band does kick ass, and Frontier Psychiatrist is an awesome song. I wouldn't compare them to Basement Jaxx though. The Avalanches seem to have more of a retroie 60's/70's thing going on in a lot of their songs. Not a lotta baseheavy techno.

that song "frontier psychiatrist" was original preformed by an individual at the 99 dmc world finals. dont know if the dude is in the avalances, but if not, something is a bit fishy

The Avalanches have been around since at least 1996, so I'm sure they made it before that DJ...or at least it was only PART of the song, considering there are many samples from that song.

haha avalanches are fresh.RUN DNA is probz the maddest song...well the live version on recovery was mad in its day (bad luck to the non-aussies for missin out on that shit).

i wasnt that mad on the avalanches, think i heard too much of them but then my mate copied me a mix they did called 'gimix' (dont know where he got it) and it is unbelievable! i just can't explain how good it is...stuff on it like jimi hendrix 'crosstown traffic' with cyndi lauper 'girls just wanna have fun over it & bob dylan's 'like a rolling stone' with madonna 'holiday' mixed in etc.etc.etc...i was literally grinning like an idiot when i heard some bits...highly recommended ;)
