I was watching a bbc special on sunday night on this guy and it was some cool shit to learn. this guy is sigmund frued's nephew. he pretty much made America the consumer crazy madhouse it is today. one of the first corporations he worked for was phillip morris. since women werent really supposed to smoke, he got them started on smoking cigarettes by telling them that they were symbols of independence. this happened right around the time of women's suffrage so it fuckin boomed and just like that, he doubled phillip morris's sales. he pretty much invented mass appeal and got people to buy things they didnt need, thus marking the beginning of mass production. he pretty much makes people want stuff by appealing to their animal insticts (sex and agression). anyway it was a cool program and im gonna start reading up on bernays and freud.
