  1. Going to try and start a new series of posts and see how it goes. I'm going to try and pick timely topics and hot button subjects and pose a question so you guys can weigh in and throw in your opinions. Obviously we won't all agree and likely, there's no easy solution. The goal is to apply logic, reasoning and if possible, objective evidence and study so we can discuss and debate in our small corner of the interwebz and see if we might be able to solve the worlds problems. Current topic... Has the social media revolution devolved conversation? (Previous topic or use the search to sea
  2. So in the spirit of the Weigh In thread and how many of us are feeling social media like Facebook and Instagram cheapened relationships and all but killed conversation (you should really read it if you haven’t already)... and inspired by a comment from @Hua Guofang , I was thinking we’ve got enough OGs back on here to put our heads together and start sorting out who’s still missing. Maybe between all of us we can start tracking people down before they’re some are gone forever. As mentioned all over the place already, all accounts going back to 1999 are in the database and can be recovered. Jus
  3. *IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE YOU PURCHASE* The 12ozProphet Forum Reunion tee is being released as a celebration of the 12oz community as well as a nod of respect to key members that have contributed to its legacy. Further, the release of this tee is also intended to be a rallying cry… Many of us are waking up to realize what we’ve lost when we traded niche online communities like 12ozProphet for the easy to access, endless stream of bite sized content found on social media. We’re discovering that we’ve handed over ownership of our online
  4. In light of the discussion and some really great memories posted in the Weigh In: Has the social media revolution devolved conversation? thread and because @Grassy Knowles never got around to writing up a 12ozProphet History piece, I thought I'd kick off this thread so that those that were there can share stories and photos from the earliest days. The more I talk to people, the more I hear about how impactful 12ozProphet was to some people. The laughs, the sharing of information, the friendships, etc. Obviously I've personally been on a nostalgic tip with where I'm at with everything, but real
  5. Fat Ralphy checking in here folks..... I intend to use this thread to document and motivate my efforts for health and fitness. My hopes are that putting myself out there and being accountable to the forum will help me stay on point. Over the last two years I have packed on approx. 50 lbs - stress and injuries have made it hard to get on track. My plan is as follows - get my eating in check, post my meals here and document meal prep. Increase my activity - I currently train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a few times a week but I want to add some lifting, biking,
  6. I picked up "the trailer I wanted". It's a 20' deck over axle equipment trailer. I intend to get a skid steer and they weigh a little more than 10k lbs. Trailer can hold 14k. Electric brakes. @Some1- I want to install a winch plate with the cable going through a hole at the front of the deck of the trailer. Is this something you've done or can give advice on? @misteraven- this should tow my lawnmowers what do you think? 😂
  7. The only non-peaceful thing i did was a shove and a “fuck off” to that dude when he shoulder checked me trying to force his way past because the crowd stopping him wouldn’t let him pass the other way. I wasn’t in his way, he put me in his path. I was there to be another number in a crowd saying that you cant just fucking kneel on a dudes neck for 9 minutes and expect not to be held accountable for a murder. My gripe was accountability, which we have a massive lack of in our authority and “leadership,” to the point where it’s practically non-existant, on the left and the right.
  8. lol... Truth! No, I didn't mean it to be complex, I just was making note of the efforts and energy they are putting in which out weigh the inferior materials "shields" used so to speak. This may not be the best analogy to use but, it's like someone or a group with the drive and intelligence to engineer a good product but use piss poor methods and materials which causes the failure down the road and that's if the product takes off. That's how I am looking at the entire thing, when it's politically backed "motivated". Not that I agree with it. But it's these individuals wh
  9. Couple WaHo donks to start thangs off —- I learned of the Waffle House index used by FEMA earlier this month. It’s real, you can snopes it —— https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle_House_Index The Waffle House Index is an informal metricnamed after the Waffle House restaurant chain and is used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to determine the effect of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.[1] The index is based on the reputation of Waffle House for having good disaster pre
  10. Following along @misteraven's threads touching on this subject, I'd like to explore the role of government in regulating Social Media. A new law went into effect today called the "California Consumer Privacy Act". The law itself isn't aimed at social media per-say it's more of a broad regulation aimed at all businesses, but I thought it touched on topics covered in previous threads like: Weigh In : Has the social media revolution devolved conversation? Weigh In : Individual privacy and freedom versus collective *safety and security* The new law is intended to allow
  11. one of the best fights i've seen all year, especially with the situation of Imadaev slapping Pereira at the weigh ins.
  12. Okay, going to kick off another from my "Weigh In" series, where we pool the 12oz brain trust and explore yet another facet of modern society to see if we might solve the worlds problems. Obviously that last bit was a joke, but in all seriousness, it is my hope that we can come together and explore topics that matter (at least to some of us), with the hope of planting seeds for thought and reinvesting in the process of teaching people to question the world around them and learn how to have intelligent, respectful and fact driven discussions and debates. How to apply rhetoric and logic as we de
  13. Well, my peoples been a minute since I've done a "weigh In" thread. The last ones on Social Media cheapening personal relationships and killing conversation has done incredibly well (go check it out and chime in, if you havent already). The one on political correctness versus teenage / young adult violence hasn't been as popular a topic, but hoping you guys still jump in on that discussion. Also remember to search "Weigh In" as there will likely be many more if you're reading this long after the fact. Current topic: Individual privacy and freedom versus collective *safety and security*.
  14. Current topic... Politics vs Pop Culture For those not familiar with these weigh in topics, definitely search "Weigh In" for some other good ones, like the Social Media discussion and the political correctness vs Teen Violence discussion. I woke up to find all kinds of posts about this new Supreme Stormy t-shirt and thought this made an interesting topic, though we've touched on a bit in many other threads. It's clear Supreme isn't new to taking political positions publicly or leveraging the massive platform and fan base to help distribute their position an
  15. Hey for real my first reaction to this picture was "what kind of monster cuts their sandwhich this way?" Then I got into an argument with my wife about how the only way this was an acceptable way to cut your sandwhich was if you were on your way to cutting it into quarters. In 39 years I've never cut my sandwhiches this way and I think thats why I had such a violent reaction to it. Now that I have had about 30 minutes to weigh the pros and cons, I realize this is the only acceptable way to half a sandwhich unless its diagonal. Props
  16. Current topic... #Me Too!!! And continuing the conversation on political correctness For those not familiar with these weigh in topics, definitely search "Weigh In" for some other good ones, like the Social Media discussion and the political correctness vs Teen Violence discussion. I think the last one was Weigh In: Politics vs Pop Culture where we discussed Supreme NYC jumping in on politics. There was also related topics like Nike and Kaepernick = Freedom of speech? and especially Has political correctness amplified teenage violence?, so I encourage you guys to jump in on those a
  17. Hello everyone... Been a minute since I've dropped a "Weigh In" topic and with all the hoopla surrounding Nike's recent campaign featuring Kaepernick, I figured we had a good content opportunity to warm up and engage that grey matter between your ears for the purposes of analyzing and discussing the latest hot button topic. For those not familiar with these weigh in topics, definitely search "Weigh In" for some other good ones, like the Social Media discussion and the political correctness vs Teen Violence discussion. Current Topic: Is the Kaepernick protest really even
  18. RIP Ima tell each and everyone of you assholes right now. You weigh a lot in my life. call it flattering call it pathetic ? you need to know you’re loved and randomly thought of throughout the day. Roughly 1pm 😉
  19. Hands up those that did a double take when seeing the US econ figures out today Me - 🤚 Back onto the Sweden issue: Sweden: Will COVID-19 Economics be Different? June 4, 2020 Sweden’s less restrictive containment strategy may have resulted in a milder economic contraction at the onset of the crisis, but uncertainty remains about its implications for the rest of the year. Other factors, including falling external demand, will heavily weigh on growth. Concerns have also been raised about the country’s death rate which, although lower tha
  20. So, as we enter the holiday season, I though it was a good time to look back on things. I'm also wondering what everyone's favorite threads are? Plus don't think we have a thread like this, so lets give it a go and see what we can dig up. Format: - Ranked from most favorite to favorite. - Please include links to make it easier for people to check out. - Maybe mention what you like so much about it. ---------------- Hard to narrow it down, but personal favorites would probably be... 1. Maybe time to revitalize these threads now that there is additional perspective on the subjects. Weigh In: Social Credit System, Red Flags and how to identify the trouble makers amongst us Link: https://forum.12ozprophet.com/topic/87839-weigh-in-social-credit-system-red-flags-and-how-to-identify-the-trouble-makers-amongst-us/ Weigh In: Individual privacy and freedom versus collective *safety and security* Link: https://forum.12ozprophet.com/topic/87839-weigh-in-social-credit-system-red-flags-and-how-to-identify-the-trouble-makers-amongst-us/
  23. @Hua Guofanggo back and reread a couple of those weigh in topics on social and privacy. Fairly certain a lot of the videos and stuff you're asking about are probably in them. Fell free to add to those if you come across any others in your search.
  24. I for one am more interested in a the day to day life of other oontzers during this time than debating politics, maybe a crossfire thread is in order to weigh the merits of a libertarian, social democratic or totalitarian state approach is best. I have family who work for the Canadian government in health, they hold PHD's and have decades of experience; when I have interacted with them and their colleagues the idea that they are power hungry idiots does not ring true.
  25. @Dirty_habiT I understand the self reliance factor of trying to do everything yourself. I have come to find that its not always feasible. Even if I can complete the task doesnt mean that its always the best use of my time. I generally weigh the project and how long it will possibly take me. I find some one that I can pay to do the project. If I can make more money going to work than the cost of having some one else do it, then I go to work.
