Dieseldrums

I'm a self admitted noob.. got a question. Can someone tell me what the numbers at the end of tags meant, if anything. Thinking about more old school cats.. They touch on it in Style Wars but ai dont think they really explain it. (I.e. evoke258, rove45, ect..).. and I've never got the whole "1" thing either. Sole1,jake1..(not writers, but you get the idea. thanks for the input
