@glorydaysWhat are the hard learned lessons you experienced to never take the pry bar and bolt cutters out of your trunk?

I have experienced shit like cables and wires wrapping around my axles when i was younger

the pry bar is to open car doors or break windows

and having breaching tools on my backpack has gotten me out of getting arrested more than once in my life

You would think that it would be Chris giving advice to jerry since Union been around forever.

chris has never made his own clothing line until now tho

but i feel you....i give way more props to chris over jerry

Dope thread! Been really interested in joining a BJJ or Muay Thai gym over the past year, just waiting to hit some fitness goals before I commit effort anywhere else.
Does anyone have any tips for recognizing if a gym is junk or not? I have one pretty close to me but I can't be sure if it would be a decent place to train or not.

the teacher, also called a professor, has to be a nice person

i know that sounds wild pussy.....but trust me when i say that this shit is important

if the teacher is an asshole, don't even think about that gym....in the long run, that shit will just turn you off to the art or make you quit early

there's nothing mystical about bjj....in essence, it's just wrestling

if the teacher starts talking about mystical magic shit, fucking bounce

you might get curious and ask where he professor got their black belt or ranked belt from

if you do, make sure you can verify by calling the person they mentioned or at least the gym they got belted from

@glorydaysyo, do you know who makes the blanks for Union? I think those are my new favorite tshirts. The Shaka tshirts that @KILZ FILLZmentioned seem to fit the description of the union shirts cuz of the snug neck.

i actually asked chris gibbs about that.

They're custom cut using cotton from a japanese mill

    no shitting

    *Chef's kiss

When it aired, I was watching it live and thought my cable went out like everyone else, was kinda pissed and felt it was a cop out when the credits rolled. Years later though, I appreciate it

    that's fucking right

The proper base/pressure and relaxing thing is something I mention constantly to beginners....

Maybe not beginners, most of the time I won’t really be super proactive about helping someone until they have been there for a while.

Man that sounds like it was a great time....to be the only white belt there, classic.

they were so welcoming also.....none of them thought to not help me

all of them were teaching me something

i learned proper combat base and base squatting for posture retention

I also learned single leg ankle take downs

I still need to learn to relax.....my endurance is shit

it was the same in the Appalachian mountains

the windigo was just native americans scaring the shit out of the colonies

That’s my favourite in the entire series. Pine Barrens

    Steve Buscemi directed that one

it had a fargo feel to it

and it was funny as fuck

    I agree completely.

Although I loved TD, S2-3 really didn't hit the same high marks as the first. Same with The Wire. First 3 seasons are great after that it just kinda petered out. Overall they're still infinitely better (even the weaker seasons) than most of the disposable garbage that's on TV.

Other than a few weaker EPs Sopranos stayed consistent. The only ones I skip or skim on rewatches are the fever dream, the dad's mistress, the furio/carmela storyline and the few ep's where its all about the mother

I love the ep when paulie was stuck in the woods with chris

and the show made me appreciate film making and got me into more independent films

hmm The Wire/True Detective would like a word

Personally I’d agree Sopranos had more of a cultural impact than the other two but they’re up there on the best shows ever made list. I wouldn’t say Sopranos is the ONLY HBO show that touched greatness

True detective is def on par with Sopranos

But the strength to season ratio was strong with Sopranos

The wire was good. I just dont think i've rewatched the wire as much as the sopranos

I would consider rewatchability and how good each season was

I feel like the sopranos had a back to back quality to it

    went to the garage

    fucking glorious

i was the only white belt in a sea of sharks

that shit was fucking amazing...i got my ass handed to me BUT i learned so many basic techniques that I overlooked

I learned about proper base and applying pressure while relaxing

I also learned that I cannot hurt Chris no matter what i do

@glorydayswe have been practicing stand up more lately due to a handful of guys who went down South last weekend to compete in worlds.

Regarding this dude all of our rills are solid, i play a guard start when practicing at the academy - we all start from sitting/crouch for the most part due to space.

    saaaame

for us its just a matter of space

@glorydays dude that is definitely going to be awesome - come back and tell us what you guys go over.

Trained last night - almost got got....saved by the bell. Collegiate State wrestling champ jar head judo brown belt and bjj brown, gives me the best rolls in the whole

academy. Got me with a paper cutter- I glanced up and saw 13 seconds left and just figured I could suffer it out and avoid tapping.

Love rolling with that guy....challenges me every time .

so you wrestle to from stand up now?

you don't pull guard any more?

I've been challenged by this high school kid to wrestle from stand up but i always end up pulling guard
