  1. Sophomore year of high school. Painting a lot of bad graffiti, smoking a lot of good kush, spending a lot of time on 12oz. Thought I was some sort of mad scientist trying to come up with new ink recipes. Listening to: Mad Lib, Dilla, Stones Throw, Cunning Lynguists, and Lil Wayne
  2. True. I don’t drink... I chug. TPBM is stoned.
  3. Fuck ya. Wish there was more of this in the states
  4. @discowizardwith the flicks as always. Good to see some familiar faces still rockin in DC
  5. Damnnnn stoked for this release and the motive behind it. Bring back alt-media.
  6. Random gems from exploring the old pages mostly courtesy of @oddio1 @Fancy @safefun Crazy to see how many old spots just don't exist anymore...
  7. As full on millennial I think I can add something to this. I've had a social media account since the 6th grade, first Myspace and random forums, then Facebook then IG and Twitter. As long as I've cognitively placed importance on "social relationship" there's probably been a social network to build them on. In other words, a world with social media is really the only one I know. It's impossible for me to compare to before my time, but I have watched as social has swelled to a level where it now just consumes itself. It's the sheer size and reach that I see as the problem. At some point it went from "let's connect with like minded people" to "let's connect with as many people as possible." What got lost was the value and community feel that was what made 12oz so dope. I was definitely late to the peak 12oz community, probably 2007, but it still played a huge role in my graffiti and cultural up bringing. Interacting with and learning from people in partyinginportland, sketch threads, The Yard, Chanel Zero etc. felt like being part of an underground community. You can't get that on IG. It's to difficult to segment your audience on the platforms, so instead of passing through the grapevine it's shouted from the mountain tops. everyone is so eager to prove that they're in the know that keeping something lowkey has no value. Kind of ironic considering all the Privacy concerns people claim to have. I'm not on Reddit all that much, but I have been able to find similar types of online communities on Twitter, mostly concerning sports. The problem there again is that you're shouting into a room full of other conversations and hoping someone hears you. It's less concentrated and in-depth for the most part, and character limits don't help. The other major shift is the speed at which all of this is happening, made possible by improved internet, access, and devices. Having worked in digital publishing (including the 12oz Homepage) the rate at which content is consumed and turned over is incredible. It's made it difficult to have enough time to form real, thoughtfully constructed opinions on anything before the moment passes, meaning people are out here shooting off takes as they think of them. Sure there's more conversation and people talking, but it's less substantial. I'm reading Future Shock right now, and even though it was published in 1970 it's still incredibly prescient and relevant in talking about the rate of change and the temporary nature of modern life. Can forums come back? Maybe... I know I feel fatigued and less and less interested in what is popping up on my feeds. Maybe a platform that's more focused and unique is the solution.
  8. Bump all of the above ^^^ Especially that durag dynasty cover hahaha
  9. This one of my favorites of all time, from my home town too... Such a great concept
  10. I've been hesitant to hop on the Bernie train, but given the recent results there's part of me that thinks he could actually pull it off. If it weren't the obnoxious flood of internet activist stans that cling to his every word I'd like him more. Guess everyone has those fanboys tho. No way that Bernie and Hillary get on the same ticket right as P/VP? (Which ever way it may go)
  11. We linked up with DEBT YKK for some bombing in the Lower East Side. Son was getting down, busting into buildings and shit and calling out some weak ass wheat pasters who were about to go over his shit. Ended up having to dip at the end of the night, but all went smoothly. Who's feelin it? Fuck you if you're not ahahaha
  12. This has got a nice flow to it
  13. Yeah? Was just wondering as it's dated '15
  14. Yo! Listen up 12ozProphet Forum users and news readers, we are coming at you with a new contest series to hook you up with new gear, fresh products and a bunch of other awesome stuff. This week we will be giving away a copy of Also Known As Volume One, one of the several books that 12ozProphet has produced over the years. Also Known As is a 190-page, full-color, perfect-bound, graffiti-obsessed, street culture bible. The focus is nothing short of dear, dirty destruction; the glorious variety of fuck-you graffiti that offers no attempt to make friends. Absolutely every page is pure unadulterated content, without room for advertisements or nonsense, and is supplemented with several inserts including a kiss-cut sticker sheet, a special fold-out poster and vinyl die-cut stickers. It is a really rad book, and one that every graff head should have in their collection. The thing is, this contest is the only place you can get it! It's no longer available in stores, so make sure you enter to win following the simple rules below for your chance to win a copy. You can enter as many times as you'd like, with a winner being chosen Friday at 5pm (EST), so get in those entries and spread the word. HOW TO ENTER 1. Register or login at 12ozProphet.com 2.
