  1. Dagget, CA: Watts, CA: Pinhole shot (on an escalator at a mall): Dusty negative!
  2. Neat. Wanna explain more about what you did?
  3. More random stuff from the IE:
  4. I've recently started developing color film at home--and slide film too. It's really fun. I just want to shoot slide all the time now. I finally got to do something I've always wanted to but didn't want to shell out the dough for--I cross-processed C41 film in E6 chemicals. Some results: The film was Fuji NPC 160 shot in a Canon AE-1 Program. Chemicals were an Arista kit.

    This thread is painful sometimes.
  6. That bike shot is super. Pinhole shot:
  7. I agree, best thread. Took a couple trips down route 66 in the mojave desert recently:

    IOU vs. L.A.

Nice to see you back! The Ferarro Building is my fave in all of LA. So fun what you can do with it:
  9. None of your pics are showing up for me! I took a roadtrip out to the desert along route 66 last weekend...
  10. Nice stuff guys. This is why I love the desert: (Crappy cell phone pic.) Ludlow, CA, along route 66.

That's beautiful. I love the swirly bokeh those Helios lenses have.

My Canon AE-1 Program is my main shooter. All the other benchers I know shoot digital. Pffft. They have it so easy. Here's my latest find: $3 at a thrift store. Gonna try it out tomorrow on a little route 66 roadtrip.
  13. Different place. The Inland Empire is the area just inland from LA. It includes the cities of Riverside and San Bernardino. Slab City is out near the Salton Sea in the Imperial Valley. It's further east of the Inland Empire. And south too. The area the Salton Sea is in is fascinating and depressing and a photographer's dream. Here's my Flickr set of the Salton Sea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/whenigodeaf/sets/72157612070883307/with/5561277890/

That's what I'm saying--I don't have to use the masks with my scanner if I don't want to. It's how I scan these negatives:

How much bigger than 120 is 6x9? With my scanner, I can just lay negatives on the glass and hold them down with another piece of glass. As long as it's in the area the scanner reads for negatives, it'll work. I just use a plate of glass from a picture frame, but I taped up all the sharp edges so I don't scratch the scanner glass accidentally.
  16. I was laying under the train to get this shot: JK. I stuck the camera under it. Gumball machines of south central LA: The trailers of Bombay Beach, CA: Vacation homes in Yermo, CA: Come unto me, but don't climb over this wall: South Central Los Angeles.
  17. Bombay Beach, CA, on the Salton Sea. It wasn't dawn--just used expired slide film and it went all purple/pink. Downtown L.A.
  18. I'm the opposite. Well I'm just a dorky introvert--if I'm uninspired I'm also very much into hermit mode. Wow that is amazing, gonna have to read some of those articles on that guy when I have more time. I'd be interested in seeing your blind paintings!
  19. Few more...still haven't been shooting much except trains lately. Bloomington or Fontana, CA--can't remember which. Downtown Rialto, CA. Location not given. I always get Johnny Cash stuck in my head.
  20. Color film developed at home, first batch. Film is expired which explains the color shift. The non-expired film I did has great color.

    IOU vs. L.A.

Nice. I love east LA. Your pics always make me want to go to LA but winter time is desert time!
  22. Thanks for the article fist. Interesting how many writers say music is an influence. I sometimes forget how music can be a great motivator/mood changer. My first batch of color film done at home had some white spots, which I think is caused by insufficient agitation (happened the first time I tried C41 last year sometime). Scanning the second batch now to see if the problem is gone.

Props denied! (It won't let me prop you again right now) But seriously fabulous.
  24. Well thanks that's nice to hear. :) I'm getting set up to develop my own color film at home now so that should be fun. C41 and E6 both. Can't wait to try cross-processing C41 in E6 chemicals. It's too expensive to have a lab do it but soon I can do it at home.
