  1. Yeah that's a lot of peoples life.

No offense, but it (photos) is not interesting if there isn't something 'new' or 'original' about it,

if you want an advice: shoot less, and make the effort to think about what exactly you think is good about a picture.

think about what you want your photos to show & look like.

they will be much more powerful i presume!

  2. Typical traveler in Oakland around August- "Dude, I'm gonna go up north and trim, make a bunch of money and smoke weed, then I'm gonna go to New Orleans for the winter, leave after Mardi Gras, it's gonna be sick!"

Same traveler in November, back in Oakland, looking rather discouraged- "Dude, I sat in Arcata/Garberville for a month with a bunch of douchebags, finally got picked up by some tweaker who only paid me for half my work and half of that was in weed...hey, do you want to buy some weed? I need to get rid of this shit before I go to NOLA and no one back home wants to wire me any cash."

    LOL

    Good lord

    +1

  3. just with regards to camera type and format, i used to use a pentax me-super, but do not own it anymore and would like to branch out with other things...so for someone who has been away from film for a while. what would be good to use to get back into the swing of things??

I think the most important question is what you actually want.

And how much money you can / want to spend on that hobby.

So you want to do film, not digital. Are you sure.

Is 35mm enough, or do you want / need a larger negative.

You said you had a Pentax SLR. Did you like it or do you want something different now.

    Is autofocus important to you.

What do you intend to shoot, and what do you want to do with your pictures in the end,

just post them to the internet or make nice big prints.

  4. I've got a problem with my f4.

I'm using a 36 exposure film, for some unknown reason after 15 exposures the red light lights up indicating the end of the roll. So I ended up with only 15 shots.

The previous roll stopped after 25 exposures

    Any ideas?

Did you look at the negs? Are the 15 shots spaced normally, or is the camera winding too far between each shot maybe?

  5. af nikkor 50mm 1:1.8

The only two films I can find in Bali are Fujicolor superia 200 and kokdakcolor 200

I can't seem to find any other film or anything higher than 200 here which is a shame

so i just stick with the fuji.

Film is dying out here fast.

Maybe I just need to ask around more.

Got some photos to post soon.

Can't you order film via eBay / the internet?

Looking forward to your new stuff!

  6. It's called panning. If you have a slow shutter speed (guaranteed to slow down if you're shooting f22) and follow a moving object that is continuing on a trajectory you can keep your focal point sharp while blurring your background.

I think it's more than the panning, like, in your shot the whole the background is blurred,

but the freight is equally sharp - as doodle's car at f/22 should be.

Only explaination to me is that the (sharp) wheel is steady on the ground,

while the rest os the car swings / bounces a little bit.

Also nice stuff porra, thanks for sharing.

CaughtYou - I don't really understand your question.

(So i was wondering if someone can help me out, the "deluxe" and front headlight are in focus but why isn't the rest of the car? my aperture was

at f22 so depth of field shouldn't be a problem, just seems like the rest of the car was moving at a different speed, im confused)

It's just the way it was shot, this happens to me once in a while, sometimes when I move with the object it does this.

    Hmm, never seen like that.

On second look I think you were panning the car pretty good, but I can't really believe that this is f/22,

could it be that it's f/1.8 because aperture did not stop down?
