  2. "Photographer Lalage Snow, who is currently based in Kabul, Afghanistan, embarked on an 8-month-long project titled We Are The Not Dead featuring portraits of British soldiers before, during, and after their deployment in Afghanistan. Similar to Claire Felicie's series of monochromatic triptychs, Snow captures the innocent expressions of these men transformed into gaunt, sullen faces in less than a year. The three-panel juxtaposition allows the viewer to observe the physical changes a stationed soldier in a war zone goes through. Time is sped up for these men under the beating sun, amidst combat. Regardless of age, the boys that went in came back as men with experiences beyond their years. As weathered and worn as their skin or sunken in faces may appear, it's their dilated eyes that are the most telling." http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/lalage-snow-we-are-the-not-dead Figured some people might appreciate this.
  3. Haha, I might have had more fun if I were 20 and actually liked that sort of music. I did have some fun at a few camp sights, but inside the gates just wasn't my thing. Some smaller festivals I've liked more but they still just weren't for me. From what I've heard all good used to be a better festival, we played there after it was sort of going downhill I've heard. I'm sure the crowd at Bonnaroo, even if only through sheer size is more annoying.
  4. My now defunct band used to play at some regional festivals (festies to the natives, phesties if you're really an asshole). I always hated them, the last one we played was all good (hood) a few years back, which is a fairly big event full of irritating people. No doubt there were some cool people there but I'd say well more than half were at best cliche, mindless, annoying hippies and at worst shady, tough-guy, redneck hippies with no morals whatsoever. The irony is pretty spectacular. Pretty much all the bands are fucking horrible, everyone would come out like "you guys like WEED?", and everyone would scream like complete retards. I couldn't drink enough/do enough drugs/funnel cakes to remotely have a good time. At least Bonnaroo has some decent bands, and less hippies. I still would take a club/medium sized venue show over that clusterfuck any day.
  5. Great imagery, you're an excellent writer. I definitely found multiple parts actually nauseating. Props for sharing your misery for our amusement, although I imagine writing about it can be somewhat cathartic as well. She just wanted to be loved. Even if it was in the form of you violently fucking her face. Goddamn.
  6. Indeed, a jazz musician from that era making it to 92 is like a regular person living to be 250. RIP nonetheless.
  7. That scene was intense, resparked my interest in the show which had definitely been waning since season 3. I think it was excellent writing on Sutter's part in that it simultaneously takes the difficult task of unrealistically writing Opie back into the MC and taking Jax to a darker place. His death should at least make the rest of this season (somewhat) good. That is, until he overwrites the sons into more ridiculous plot twists.
  8. Those murals are rad. The scary ass horse fell on and killed the artist who made it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Jim%C3%A9nez_(sculptor)
  9. holy crap that was funny. The slideshow-esque quality made it that much funnier, especially when it got to the picture of the horse cock on cops head. My girl is starring at me like I'm retarded for laughing so hard.
  10. This thread always makes me happy when I'm feeling shitty.
  11. I've been going through this thread and there's a lot of talent here, for real. Anyone have any experience composing for music libraries? I've submitted to a few and made a little bit of money, trying to step it up to the more high end libraries recently. Here's something I've been working on for a trailer library. This is roughly mastered, but I'm thinking of starting over from square one with the mix, I just can't get it right. Any critiques of the mix or otherwise would be much appreciated. The vibe is supposed to be industrial/electronic/upbeat/dramatic, obviously. http://soundcloud.com/stevie-blunder
  12. I guess Haley has some ties to Pittsburgh so hopefully dude will fall in line. But yeah a high risk, high reward move.
  13. wow, that about sums it up.
  14. What a great game. My favorite part though, hands down was watching the ravens lose.
