  3. I'm a dj on the radio, in the clubs, make mixtapes, etc. and if you ask me, while serato and these other programs are handy, the music just doesn't feel real if i don't have copies of it on vinyl. what happens when your computer crashes while you're at the club? (seen it happen) all of that smoke, jostling it around, shit's just a disaster waiting to happen. give me crates of vinyl and I'm good to go. I feel like all music, not just hip-hop, is dying. As the mediums change, music changes. When you listened to music on records, you were attached to the music in a way that you will never be with an ipod. The act of handling a record, and actually seeing the music (the grooves), just adds some romance to the music listening experience. Having to get up and flip the record over is great to me, the interaction makes the music more real, like you can actually feel a little piece of the artist in your hands. The artwork was another way to be connected to the artist, to get a glimpse into who they are and what they stand for. Even tapes were good for this, the fact that you had to flip the tape over was a form of interaction. Then along come CDs, and something was lost....if your cd got scratched, it was over. You can get a little scotch tape and fix that tape, you can play all of the other songs on the album, but that cd's done. Then people start downloading songs and burning thier own cds. The act of aquiring music got even more impersonal. You could find songs on the net that were fucking awesome, and never know if you even had the right song title or artist. you may never find another song from that artist, or know what they looked like, where they were from, anything. Now you've got ipods, the most impersonal way to listen to music yet made. There is no physical representation of the music to build that connection between artist and listener, nothing to form that common bond between fans of the same artist. "Hey, let me plug my ipod up to your itunes and get that song" doesn't have the same appeal to me as "hey, let me borrow that record" or even "let me get a dub of that tape" Music sucks now, and I blame it all on the fact that the music is real impersonal, and seems more temporary, due to the change in medium. I know this is long-winded, but it just forced it's way out, sorry.
  4. damn....i wish i would have seen this thread yesterday. LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!!!! If we play as good against Duke as we did against Arizona, we'll be in pretty good shape

  7. you're all saying you would play pitcher for a mil huh? well you're FUCKING GAY!!!!!! to play the pitcher you'd have to get hard thinking about hairy man ass........ how gay would you feel spending your million dollars after you A) had to get hard and B) had to pack fudge until completion while feeling your balls bang against some other dude's sweaty sack? what? are you gonna imagine that's some crazy roast beef curtains hanging down there? huh uh fag boy, you're a little light in the loafers, or, as my girl's pops would say, about as queer as a three dollar bill.....
  8. I went in 2003 and it was fucking awesome. however, the shit is stupid commercial now, (even moreso than it was then) I wrote bonnaroo off when they had dave mathews headline. the year i went i saw DJ Z Trip, James Brown, Mixmaster Mike and The Dead (the grateful dead minus jerry garcia) back to back to back to back on the final night. I don't like the dead too much, but the experience was great. I also got to see the roots, bela flek and the flek tones, dj spooky, RJD2, galactic, STS9, a lot of good shit. and there was mad titties, lots of chicks with thier chests painted....... take paint. the year i went there were quite a few pieces on the big ass wall around the stages. granted, they'll only be temporary, but painting on mushrooms is always fun
  9. damn.....this thread is awesome.
  10. Re: Dear ________, - no homo dear selection commitee please look favorably on my west virginia university mountaineers, I know the bubble is shrinking with the upsets (like San Diego winning the WCC) but we've really come on in the last month of the season, our RPI is pretty good, and we play good at neutral sites. Can't you just leave out Ohio State or Kentucky? The Pac-10 is kind of overrated as well, they only need 5 teams in don't they? thanks, growing-my-beard-out-like-the-mountaineer-oner

  15. I took no offence to your comments, I just get tired of seeing the usual suspects in every thread to be honest. I understand that we're gonna see certain cats because: a. they're awesome, and b. they put in work and get the fuck up and I would never say that people should stop posting pics of these people's work. However, there is a lot of good graff out there, and it seems like some people are scared to step out of the box and post what they like. I don't know if they're afraid people are gonna talk shit or what, but everybody likes different shit, just post up and accept the hate, that's what 12oz is best at.......... while I'm rambling, how come people on 12oz are scared to post flicks of gondolas and coal cars? here in the middle of appalachia (WV to be exact) I see good ass graff on coal cars every fucking day, but I hardly ever see flicks on 12oz, even the godola thread only gets shit posted in it like once a month. Just because it's not on freights doesn't mean it's not good. sorry about all the chatter, it won't happen again, and thanks for the pictures
  16. and one more thing, nice pics.....
