  1. I met a black guy that had a Wu-Tang tattoo with "Black Ice" above it once. He didn't like whites too much. On the other hand, the ratio of black to whites that listen to Wu-Tang is disproportionately white, hands down. Like 90/10 even.
  2. Recommend some Bukowski for me folks, never read anything.
  3. I forecast a sik DAOstorm in this thread by the morning. All the variables are in place.
  4. About half-way through, so far really fucking good. This is the kind of sci-fi I love to read, written in 1968(?), set in 2010, this guy was dead on with a lot of his future dystopian predictions. We're living in the future br0's.

I'm probably done riding until spring unless we get some unseasonal weather. I have zero motivation to get up early in the morning and ride in 30 degree temps with 20 mph headwinds. Kind of sucks, I've been riding for 4 or 5 years now, and this was by far my best year. Getting a new bike come spring, so something to look forward to.
  6. Holy shit that Philly Phanatic is fucking amazing. It even trumps the awesome Wu tattoo up top.
  7. Wu-Tang tattoos are never bad, even when they're terrible. That shit is hardt. DON'T HATE.

  9. I bet way more people would have stopped if the RZA was performing in the same spot at the same time. I'd like to think that the general public has little to no interest in classical music, I know I sure as shit do not. If I would have saw that guy playing when and where he was, my first reaction would have been either "fucking weirdo" or "look at this attention starved asshole." I guess from now on I should stop and listen to every street performer with a classical instrument and at the end make sure that he's playing on a multi-million dollar instrument, because the cost surely affects the quality of the piece, right?
  10. Damage Jeans. Also Used Jeans, same style, I couldn't find any flicks though. Crazy that it was hard to find the couple of pictures that I did, I remember these being super popular back in the day.
  11. Funny you mention Hemingway's short stories, I remember while reading The Sun Also Rises thinking that I might like some of his shorter works better. I did get more out of it than I described, but to be completely honest, at the end I simply felt like I had just finished a well written drinking memoir. It wasn't unpleasant or anything, just kind of bland with more attention paid to what drinks were being consumed than actual character or plot development. Also, it was a book I almost exclusively read on the bus, and we all know how that goes. I think I will pick up a collection of shorter works at some point, thanks for the advice. Speaking of Phillip K. Dick, I just got Valis and will probably start that in a day or two. I've never read anything written by him, but have been recommended numerous times. Looking forward to it.

A week sober today. REALLY want to go out for a "few" drinks right now, but not going to. I was cool all week, but since I have the day off tomorrow, my mind is trained to go out and get loaded tonight. Probably the best week I've had in five months or so, hate to ruin it with bar tabs, hangovers and regrets. Actually, fuck that, it WAS the best week I've had in five months.
  13. Do you dip the cigarette butts in that sauce, or are they a stand alone appetizer? Nothing more appetizing than a carton worth of smoked cigarettes next to my food when I eat.

One of my reasons for asking is I'd like to do a group ride with my lbs at some point, I just don't want to show up and get dropped and feel like an asshole however. I'm riding a 15 year old tri bike and to be honest a bunch of dudes on $3000 carbon fiber race bikes all kitted out is a little intimidating. /nh

What's an average ride mileage wise for you guys? Average speed, elevation gain, etc? I just started using a tracking app on my phone and have been surprised at some of the results I'm getting and am somewhat curious as to what everyone else has. I usually ride 3-4 times per week, my normal route is 36 miles and I do a "long" ride of roughly 45 once or twice a week. I'm averaging about 17-18 mph with 2000 - 2500 feet of elevation gain. Is this about average? Below average? I have no aspirations of ever doing any kind of competitive cycling, I'm really just curious as to where I stand. I know a couple of you dudes are into racing and such, so some input from some of the more leisurely riders would be appreciated.

    Alcoholism

Triple, it's all or nothing for me. 1 Beer leads to 15 in a hurry. Not saying that I can't have just one, but that 1 beer is the start of a slippery slope for me. It might not happen tonight or tomorrow or Tuesday, but that's the beginning of the end every time. If I had just two last night, I'm good to go to the bar for just three tonight, right? Wrong. Every time I go to the bar for "just 3, that's it", which is every time I go, I always, no exceptions drink excessively. I just came off a 4 day bender, which for me, is bad. Doing that in your 30's isn't a good look. I haven't drank back to back nights in years, and I'm all off balance right now because of it. I've gotten nothing accomplished this week. I haven't gotten out of bed till 1:30 at the earliest, 3:00 being the average. It's sad, the only reason I didn't drink tonight is because my stomach is so fucked up, I've never had heart burn this bad in my life. I've posted before, I have experience with the recovery process, so I know that I'm smarter than this. My rationalizations for continuing drinking are asinine at best. "If I don't drink (random chick) will think I'm lame." "If I don't drink, what the fuck will I do socially?" "I can handle this." "If I don't drink, I won't be able to do _____." "I have nothing in common with people who don't use." So on and so forth. It definitely wears down your self esteem and makes the spiral worse, and thus the cycle continues. I'm making a conscious decision to make today Day 1. Not to jump on the band wagon, but I've got nothing to lose. I don't have any sober people in my "real" life, so I'm going to lean on you folks for a while. To be honest, I'm a little blown away at the number of people in recovery on 12 oz., let alone that we're actually admitting that in front of our "peers". So yeah, 24 hours and all that good stuff.
  17. I find Hemmingway to be extremely obtuse. Granted, the only thing I've read from him is "The Sun Also Rises", which I didn't like. Not a difficult read by any means, but in my opinion it was just a very long winded account of one of his drinking benders, which in theory seems awesome, but in reality was not. I have "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and will probably never read it based on that alone. Someone change my mind.
  18. This tonight: Sam Adams Third Voyage Double IPA, never had.
  19. PM me if you'd be down for a trade, I have access to Yuengling 24/7.
  20. Anyone used any online sites for quality prints, specifically larger sizes?
  21. Jesus Christ. Now I regret not paying that $$$ to see Dick Dale...holy fuck!
